The other day, Alachua Co. Sheriff's office arrested a local man who lived just outside the Gainesville city limits for posting on social media that he intended to shoot up a Gainesville middle school. Which school was either not released or not specified by him. Side note - My kid's middle school has ZERO security. No gates, no doors to get in. Anyone can walk right up to any classroom door at any time. There is an officer on campus who is occasionally seen outside, but not usually from what I've seen.
At least 22 dead so far, 2 separate locations, possibly the same shooter.
Person of interest, not suspect, is a guy who is/was (that's unclear) firearms instructor and Army Reserve. I'm having a hard time seeing how he was an active firearms instructor when he spent 2 weeks this summer in a psychiatric ward and had recently reported to be hearing voices among other mental health issues.
But here we go, today we'll hear all about the rifle.
