I haven't had a landline since early 2000. I had one for 1 year in 2011 when my daughter was born because cell reception was very spotty in the house I was in.
I have one. Bought my own little VOIP box many years ago and hooked it up with a free Google Voice number. Cost me $12 a year to have E-911 service and that's it. They later stopped supporting Google Voice so now I have to lease a number for like $40 a year.
I haven't really looked at it lately, so I don't know if that's the most economical option. I can't imagine landlines are in high demand any more.
