My poor 2 year old niece is still running fevers off and on. She first had symptoms on the 19th. Her temp got up to 104 today. Fuck this fucking virus.

That sucks.

So what I haven't seen, because I really haven't bothered to look, have the symptoms of omicron changed since they were first reported. Either omicron gives you fevers, chills, and a lot of the stuff Delta did or Delta is still far more prevalent than the media talks about.

But if it makes you feel better, a 104 for a kid that age isn't a big deal. That's like a 101-102 for adults. Kids naturally burn way hotter in their fevers in the first several years. As adults we look at that number and freak out, but it's super common with little ones with any basic flu, sinus infection, etc.
My sister took her to the doc today and it turns out she has a really bad double ear infection. She gave no indication that they hurt which is weird. I'm glad it's this though and antibiotics should clear it up. She did have COVID previously so maybe that weakened her immune system.
Been there, done that. I had ear infections as a kid and they f'n hurt like hell. My daughter had them a few times and her ears never hurt, so we never had any indication why she was running a 104 when she otherwise acted fine until we got to the Dr.

Glad she's all good though. Youngsters are damn resilient when sick. I swear it's not until we're adults do we actually act like babies when we get sick

Los Angeles Mayor — and Biden Administration ambassadorial nominee — Eric Garcetti today defended his actions after maskless photos surfaced of him and Lakers great Magic Johnson, along with San Francisco Mayor London Breed, at SoFi Stadium last weekend for the NFC Championship game.

Johnson later tweeted a series of photos from the event featuring himself and a number of others in a luxury box overlooking the field. They included Garcetti, Breed and California Governor Gavin Newsom. None of them are wearing masks in the photos, despite a local public health officer order requiring attendees to wear masks at all times during so-called outdoor “mega events,” except when “actively eating or drinking.” Johnson is in a high risk group for Covid, given his HIV status and age...

So fucking stupid...

Asian lady had on surgical mask, plastic face shield, and gloves last night in Publix.

They do this at doctors offices which is logical given that blood and stuff might float around. I think people are pretty confused about their own risk and copy things that make zero sense.

So my boss was at a donor event with Democratic house leadership this weekend and were given multiple tests and hoops to go thru but a bunch of people have Covid now. There’s no way to not get it

EG, have you heard anything about this in the halls of congress:

1). Alarming vax side effects reported by military whistleblowers. This story made a few waves last week when Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) included a mention in his five-hour Senate hearing. The information came from the Defense Medical Epidemiology Database (DMED), a mundane accounting tool used to track all medical diagnoses of military personnel and dependents for insurance billing purposes. DMED did better than the CDC’s ineffective Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). Following is a summary of the most alarming vax side effects:

Myocardial infarction (heart attack) -- 269% increase
Cancer diagnoses -- 300% increase
Miscarriage -- 300% increase
Bell’s palsy -- 291% increase
Congenital malformations (for children of military personnel) – 156% increase
Female infertility -- 471% increase
Pulmonary embolisms -- 467% increase
Neurological issues -- 1,000% increase

Yeah I think you’ll hear a lot more of that when Rs take back congress. I think for people over 40 the vaccines have saved a lot of lives. But there is a reason vaccines aren’t required for young healthy people in many euro countries.

I will not get my 11yo the vaccine, and if they tell me to, they can kiss my ass. Too much risk, plus he’s already had Om, so he’s got antibodies. There’s a lot of idiots in this town that want to mandate everyone MUST comply, we MUST wear masks, shitty ones that are proven to do nothing are ok, makes no sense. I get to wear one for 8 hrs tomorrow, flying to Portland, looking forward to it like a kick in the balls.

My wife got the vax and my 19 year old daughter. Didn't want them to, but they made their own choices. None of my other kids want it.

Yeah the us is one of the only countries recommending/forcing it on healthy young people, even those that were much more into restrictions than us.

Masks should be optional everywhere. Scared? Wear n95. Not? Don’t

She’s since deleted this tweet and said it’s racist to have an opinion on this pic

Luckily this is one area my ex and I strongly agree on. I'm still laughing that she told the neighbors that we got the vax so she could play without a mask

It’s annoying more people aren’t livid at the fact there aren’t dozens of high quality studies, given the staffing and funding of cdc and fda. We should have studies on natural immunity, masking of kids, more treatment options. This is horrible government. There are so many things they could have done in the past two years to save lives and limit misery and it’s disgusting

Working age deaths up 40%...WTF?

(The Center Square) – The head of Indianapolis-based insurance company OneAmerica said the death rate is up a stunning 40% from pre-pandemic levels among working-age people.

“We are seeing, right now, the highest death rates we have seen in the history of this business – not just at OneAmerica,” the company’s CEO Scott Davison said during an online news conference this week. “The data is consistent across every player in that business.”

OneAmerica is a $100 billion insurance company that has had its headquarters in Indianapolis since 1877. The company has approximately 2,400 employees and sells life insurance, including group life insurance to employers nationwide.

Davison said the increase in deaths represents “huge, huge numbers,” and that’s it’s not elderly people who are dying, but “primarily working-age people 18 to 64” who are the employees of companies that have group life insurance plans through OneAmerica.

“And what we saw just in third quarter, we’re seeing it continue into fourth quarter, is that death rates are up 40% over what they were pre-pandemic,” he said.

“Just to give you an idea of how bad that is, a three-sigma or a one-in-200-year catastrophe would be 10% increase over pre-pandemic,” he said. “So 40% is just unheard of.”

Davison was one of several business leaders who spoke during the virtual news conference on Dec. 30 that was organized by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.

Most of the claims for deaths being filed are not classified as COVID-19 deaths, Davison said.

“What the data is showing to us is that the deaths that are being reported as COVID deaths greatly understate the actual death losses among working-age people from the pandemic. It may not all be COVID on their death certificate, but deaths are up just huge, huge numbers.”

He said at the same time, the company is seeing an “uptick” in disability claims, saying at first it was short-term disability claims, and now the increase is in long-term disability claims.

“For OneAmerica, we expect the costs of this are going to be well over $100 million, and this is our smallest business. So it’s having a huge impact on that,” he said.

That $100 million is what OneAmerica will have paid out to policyholders in group life insurance and disability claims, the company said.

Universal drops their mask requirement. The tide is turning.

yeah because they restarted the mask requirement a couple months ago and everyone started cancelling reservations and getting refunds. You're a fucking retard if you want to pay that kind of money and be stuck wearing a mask for 12 hours when you're mostly outdoors and especially in Florida. I think they actually restarted the mandate before the cool weather hit.
