Hard Rock Tampa Poker Room

Hub and I left the kids alone (oldest is almost 14) to go to the Hard Rock in Tampa for an evening of poker. I was rather nervous as we have never left them for THAT long and gone that far away. One of our neighbors is my 3rd grader's teacher so she offered to be on call in case of emergency, so that made me feel better.
Anyway, we had a lot of fun. I was awful and probably blew about $150. But hub got on a good run and we ended up leaving with about $250 more than we showed up with, so that was good. One thing is for sure...I just can't understand the appeal of the regular slot part of the casino...filled with smoke and filled with old people who plop themselves in one spot and don't move all night. Knowing my lack of poker skills, I originally said I would just play video poker or something leaving the true table games to the hub. But getting there I realized I would NOT be happy sitting there breathing in smoke and wasting nickles.
Fun times. I'm hoping to plan a short weekend for hub and I to go and stay at the hotel there too. Not sure when I'll make that happen...maybe for his birthday. :-)
