is it me or is he just heaving it up? seriously...kids throwing off the back foot and he's throwin lame ass ducks...his legs are undeniably strong though...great balance and vision...

looks more to me like either the defenses (and their personnel) suck or the receivers are really good (at getting open and/or catching the ball in traffic)

All I know is that his receivers ARE NOT GOOD...in fact, no one else on his team are any good at all. The whole team is him.

And Bill fit him in his equipment on Friday and likes him very much...very reserved until he's around other players and then is very rah rah.

I just watched the footage and it looks to me like he has no offensive line...there are only a few times where he throws from the pocket and each of those times, he has to get rid of it fast. This school he's at is only about 5 years old and really, this is the first year their football team did anything.

It WILL be interesting to see what Charlie Weis does with him and what he will be like with an actual offensive line to protect him so he can stay in the pocket more often.

This highlight reel does show a lot of chuck it and pray. He did come out on top of the quarterback camp the highlighted on ESPN earlier in the year. What was it called? "The Eleven" maybe?

I'm glad it's not just me who sees the "chuck it and pray" technique

I'm pretty sure he was at his Under Armor practice...they were in getting fitted for their equipment on Friday and I know they were at the sports complex on Saturday. Being part of the UA game does have some commitments the players need to make.

why is the UA game so important to Driskel? what's the benefit?

i mean - he's got an offer from the university he wants to attend already...what's the upside?

what's the downside? let's see...injury perhaps?

Why do any of them go to an Under Armor game or the other Army game? A lot of them have already committed to schools.

They get more pub by going to the UA or Army game as far as I can tell. They get on national TV where they probably wouldn't have at their HS. Setting themselves up to become a pro in 3-4 years.

lot of 'em are soft commits...soft not to the school of their choice...they're allowed to change their minds as we all know...the UA or Army game is a great way for a soft commit to gain leverage over the school they REALLY want.

kid like Driskel doesn't have to worry about that sort of gamesmanship cause he's a hard commit right? if we agree he is, why then play the game? unless he's not a hard commit....unless he's interested in showcasing his talents for a reason.

i dunno man...the game is an all-star game with no purpose other than to help the kids either solidify the offering schools interest or obtain interest from schools not really interested previous.

no benefit to a kid like Driskel who is a hard commit and has a school who is as equally interested in him.

I guess you'd have to ask all the players like Tebow and many others why they played in these games when they had already been hard commits. Tebow definitely hard committed back in December but yet played in the Army game...same for Harvin I think. I don't know off hand but I know there are others because in watching the game, about half of them don't get on TV and do the whole posturing thing...they say during the game "they are committed to..."

One other thought...I'm sure the schools like UF and others that have their commits in these games are thrilled to have these hard commits talking (and playing with) their buddies who aren't committed yet. I know Driskel is much like Tebow in that he is very verbal with other players about his committment to UF and is hoping to influence some other players to join him at UF (much like Tebow did with Spikes and others at the Army game).

I would say ^this. I could easily see the university pushing someone like Driskel to play in the game and recruit while he's there. Plus I think there is the ego thing of playing in the game against HS all-stars.
