Perhaps the Tebow era and the constant lure of conference championships has vitiated my ability to get sprung for Florida-Tennessee. I am listless.
I just sat here visualizing the pale orange hordes, all six figures of them, and the preposterous checkerboard endzones, and I can barely work up a healthy gob of contempt.
I am disgusted too by Rainey, by dimwit playcalling, by the program's apparent comfort with less than a hundred rushing yards per game (good God, we have Demps, Moody, and others: we ought to be racking up 250 yards a game on the ground and utterly owning the clock).
Maybe I'm just getting old. Maybe the Kiffin departure has given me a twisted compassion for the orange hordes. (Can't imagine why -- they slept with him; they deserve to sleep in his wet spot and scratch his crabs for years.)
Maybe one of you guys can bring the bile and get the pregame discussion nasty. I just don't have it today.

I sort of feel the same way Toothy. I sort of miss Kiffin and feel sort of sorry for them because they got spanked last week. Meh.
I don't have any disdain for the Gators although Karson said this morning "why are we rooting for the Gators when Tebow is playing for the Broncos now?" She doesn't get the distinction between NFL and College. Tatum explained to her that we rooted for the Gators before Tebow and we still do because we live in Florida and they are the Florida Gators.
Nevermind mom and dad both went there. Oh well.
My expectations have been low all season.

Toothy,
The great myth about the Meyer offense is the lack of running game...
We were constantly approaching (if not surpassing) 250 yards per game rushing. This year, we have 350 total yards rushing (175/game) despite our lackluster performances early in both contests. Demps himself has 237 yards (118.5yds/game).
We just normally don't have one guy who carries the load as in a traditional offense, so people assume then, because we don't have a 1000yd rusher, we don't run. It's simply not the case.

I'm with Hater on this one...I've always had the feeling under Meyer that our offense is actually based on the run. Now...we certainly need to find rhythm earlier in the game on offense and our O-Line needs to step up and gel. Then we'll be back to 250 ypg rushing, IMO.

It's fucking Tennessee god damnit! They took out SEC title in the 80's. I want to kick their tooth in even when they are down.
I so want them to fire Bruce Pearl so their mens basketball program can return to obscurity too, and I like Bruce Pearl.

You know, we're counting yards against the lambs. I begin counting yards today. With all due respect.

Stuffed twice on 3rd and 1, Hater. How you like your "simply not the case" now?
I'm watching Gillislee score the first TD on the ground as I type this. But I'm not seeing a top-ten ground attack. The blocking has been halfhearted.

The O Line has a long way to go to being a top ten unit. This is the first game they've played together...I think they'll continue to improve.

Toothy,
I read your original post as a comment on the career of meyer, not the first two games.
I am, like everyone else, frustrated with the calamity that has been our offense thus far. I did see some signs of improvement in the USF game and similar play here today. Our Oline and, in particular, Halapio need to man the fuck up and get it done. At some point, though, the buck stops with Addazio.
I don't like to call for a coach's head...but I'm getting close to calling for his.

That little 11-yarder from Gillislee after the INT is the sort of run I like to see.

I'm telling you, this is the first team that I can remember that I feel more comfortable as the game goes on. Not as anxious as it used to be where we would just hit this wall in the third quarter and it was all downhill.
It's not over, but at least we seem to have it under control.

Yo, Mom7, what's up with those helmets that won't stay on? Don't tell me it's the vicious Volunteer hits making them fly off.

Fumble was legit. Good reversal.
But so was the safety. It should be 26-10. And if they go down and score here, we got hosed.

Believe me, we notice every time. It's those crappy Riddell helmets. We started counting the difference last week playing USF (those are our helmets), but theirs came off too (although not as much). Most of the Schutt ones that came off were because the guys weren't wearing the chin guards correctly (or at all).
But it seems like it's been happening a lot more to UF this season. Their equip mgr is likely getting some kick-backs from Riddell...no other reason to keep them because they are crap.
Wait, what just happened to our tackling?
