Maybe the concussion made him do it? Seriously, I have no patience for this type of stuff. Assuming it's all true (don't know how he can deny the text), but it looks like he needs to get booted off the team.

Urb doesn't have patience for this kind of stuff either. I expect to see him get booted.

I don't know if a permanent boot is in order for a three-word text. But there's more story to come out.

Last year I took up the cause of defending Urban Meyer and the problems he's faced as head coach at Florida with keeping players off the arrest record. At that time, most of the players in trouble were brought in by former coach Ron Zook, but as the problems continue, you can now lay it squarely at Meyer's feet.
With 29 "incidents" where players have faced either felony or misdemeanor charges in the Meyer era, when is it time to say enough is enough?
The latest incident involved Gator star slot receiver Chris Rainey allegedly texting his girlfriend after he was told to leave her premises, "Time to die [expletive] u and ur???" the report states.
She was frightened and called the police, and when they arrived, they asked her to call Rainey so they could speak to him. She said that when she told Rainey that police wanted to speak with him, Rainey said, "Wait and see what happens when they leave."
Upon arrest, Rainey admitted to the text but said he did not say that about seeing what happens when they leave.
Allegedly, he arrived at the victim's home after 11 p.m. on Monday, calling and texting her from outside the door. She eventually went outside and talked to him after Rainey told the victim, "I'm here and I will bust out the window".
Rainey was then asked to leave and the threatening text was then sent later.
Still, Rainey's arrest for aggravated stalking puts Florida back in an uncomfortable light yet again and leaves many wondering when and if Meyer can get a handle on things at Florida.
Rainey, a junior, is the team's slot receiver and already has a touchdown early in this season and was projected to be a major star on this team. It is unclear what punishment Meyer will place on Rainey and when that punishment will begin.
He was taken out of last week's contest with South Florida with a possible slight concussion, but was expected to play this week against Tennessee.
Florida and Meyer have not made a public announcement yet, though one is expected soon. Rainey was still being held at the Alachua County Jail at the time of this report.

Interestingly enough, the girlfriend is Kelley Anderson and her sister, Lauren Anderson, is the one who called the cops. If the name Lauren Anderson sounds familiar, it's because you've probably seen her before:
Former Playboy model and Matt Walsh's ex. Serial Gator athlete daters? These chicks are 30 years old. Not that it makes what Rainey did excusable; I just think it's bizarre.

That is bizarre Katie! So you're saying the gf is 30? Or Lauren is 30? In any case, to be honest, I don't really think Rainey was all that...they were trying to make him into another Percy and I think that was doomed to fail anyway as he is no Percy Harvin.
As to make this a condemnation of Urban though is a stretch. Every big name team has these problems and it's all in how they deal with them. I think he's done a pretty good job of discipline that fits the crime so far. I think we all missed Dunlap (wasn't that who it was that was found sleeping in his car drunk?) and that hurt us IMO.
Regarding "Time to Dine"...yeah right. LOL

The GF and Lauren are both 30. I'm guessing they are twins. (Though, based on photos, Lauren was blessed with better genes.)
I always thought Rainey was overrated. There are a few players on Florida's offense who I think are/were hyped up beyond their talent, and he's one.
As for Urban, this doesn't look good for our program. BUT, in his defense, we aren't the only school to go through this kind of thing with multiple arrests. Look at FSU and Miami. They've both had their eras of thug life. Again, it doesn't make things any better, but I also don't think it reflects poorly on Urban as a head coach. It would if he didn't discipline, but I think he does a decent job of coming up with appropriate punishments.

^^^I 100% concur with both of your insights. I saw Rainey play in high school and he was good, but not the same caliber of Percy Harvin IMO. And this season, I think Demps is way more of a factor than he is.

1. The bitches trying to tee off on Urban Meyer should wait for a) the story to come out, and b) Urban Meyer to act AFTER the story comes out.
2. The last time we had one of these moments midweek, it was Dunlap's DUI. And y'all remember how well we played that Saturday.

i'm just saying that there used to be a time that UF'd refuse to offer schollys to those deemed to be less than stellar on the "represent the university appropriately in all categories" category

^^^So Urban is supposed to be able to predict which players are going to end up going a little nuts over a girl? He is supposed to predict what player is going to fall alseep in his car drunk?
These are college kids...if you take ANY kid and give him a scholarship, you are taking a risk. Do you read the posts from Toothy and Weg who have to deal with college age kids on a daily basis? Just sayin.

I gotta agree with Rad. If it was the first time something like this had happened in a couple of years, Mom7, I'd be right there with you, but we are getting arrested all over the friggin place.

I'll defer to Meyer, because he does seem to kick the true mal-contents out. I'd just be a lot happier if he spent some of that amazing ability to recruit the top 1% of 1% to do a little character investigation.

Maybe my memory isn't so good but I've been a Gator fan since 1983 and I don't see that much difference in the amount of player issues we've had during that almost 30 years. I mean I don't think it's worse under Meyer than it was under Pell, Hall, Spurrier or Zook. But like I said, this is all from an old woman's memory...I haven't done the research to validate my thoughts.

i just think that a program makes the decisions way in advance before the player dons the uniform...do they court the 'less than savories' that will give you the best shot at national titles or do they stick to the standards that have been since the beginning of it all which has always been way-above-average students who are model citizens and just happen to be athletes.
thugU and F$U used to get UFs non-qualifiables...NOW - UF gets the pick of the litter and them programs get the players we can't take on or don't really care about...

my guess is the same...my guess is that we also didn't have coaches up in our grill making sure we're being attended to
