Ronnie James Dio has passed away. Let's all observe a moment of loudness.

I just noticed one of Portuguese cousins (that I never talk to) made a comment about that on Facebook. I guess he knows who he is.

Come on, people. RONNIE JAMES DIO. He took Ozzy's place as lead singer of Black Sabbath, and had his own band, Dio. You might remember the songs Holy Diver and Rainbow in the Dark.
The guy practically invented the whole doing-horns-with-your-hands thing.

sorry. I figured based on a prior discussion that it would be plainly obvious that I have very little knowledge of names of band members.

Hater, this isn't some Johnny-come-lately like Robert Plant or Paul McCartney we're talking about here.

I get so tired of hearing men talk about bands. Clearly, Jimmy is capable of holding an actual conversation about an actual, non-band topic.

I feel you, Mr. Cop, though clearly the majority of the board would rather be talking about sofa upholstery or nail polish or some such shit. "Heaven and Hell" hit when I was about 14 and I loved that record.

Don't get me started on how we might microsegment this MF.

Pretty soon, everyone will be moderating their own sub-forum, with no one to interact with but themselves.

this thread is making me LMAO, despite the tree truly sad items within. One, Mr. Dio has passed away, two, Hater has no clue who this person was and three the ladies can discuss a myriad of "female" items but band talk is frowned upon.

Toothy, don't get me wrong. In no way am I condemning the conversation or saying it isn't a better thread than some others. I was merely pointing out that nobody should be surprised that I don't know who the people are (or in this case...were). I do like a lot of the music. I just never cared to learn the names of the band members. Similarly, I know very few actors/actresses.

Poop threads are also frowned upon, but very funny.

I was actually referring to men in my "real" life that I have to listen to, which is, unfortunately, all of them at one time or another. I don't associate the men on this board with excessive discussions of bands.

Is it too late to turn this thread into a discussion of the musical contributions of RUSH?
