Week 10: Vandy

1. Thank the Lord that that baseball annoyance is done with and we can get down to business.

2. What the hell is wrong with Virginia Tech? Did they rent their stadium out to the Girl Scouts on Saturdays? How come they seem to play every Thursday night?

3. The schedule seems like a trough until the SEC CG. Should we be cheering for the Noles to win a game or two and lift themselves out of the toilet (and maybe give Bowden a reason to keep believing)? Or doesn't it matter?

4. In the College Football Pick'Em, y'all better be glad you got a one-week head start on me, because I am coming to steal your lunch money.

yeah, the last time we met a supposedly inferior team being coached by a HC in his last game, it didn't go well. Loyd Carr had the last laugh in that one. I hope it doesn't happen in this case.
Another thought, if it is truly his last game then that means the Noles aren't bowl eligible. That would be pretty depressing for FSU. An somewhat a possibility at this point.

I am very wary of FSU. As always happens, they manage to spring some athletes loose with the football and we miss some tackles. Think Peter Warrick. Christian Ponder is coming along, and UF has a tradition of making guys like Chris Rix look inhuman.

On the other hand, their defense really is a sieve. It's not good, it's not smart, it's not strong. Maybe it's more a 38-28 game than the 45-12/15 games we have grown to love. But I don't see them slowing us down much. They're bad like Georgia's bad -- a badness that even ACC teams have figured ways to exploit. If they shut us down, it's time for Addazio to save face through ritual seppuku.

We will bury FSU. It will be UGLY, like +28. I want to see FSU not be bowl eligible.

I agree, their D is a sieve. I just hope we hold on to the ball. Turnovers can make a bad D look good.

Also, ever since the Choke in the Doak I worry about FSU. Just can't shake the feeling till the game is over.

Ever since ol Ronald Zooker was able to handle the Noles in their place, I don't worry.

VT is pretty uninspiring. So much for taking over the ACC. Clearly no better than third, and maybe worse than that.

I'm not too worried about F$U, but there's always the potential for an upset.

I'm actually worried more about Vandy. They seem to play UF close way more often than they should.

No, they gave Spurrier fits. I remember 28-21, either '95, or '96?

That was November 9, 1996. My brother's wedding. We were all gathered 'round the bar, some of us on our knees, praying.

Check the score in 2006. I was going to say the same thing about Vandy playing us close, that it was more of an SOS thing, but they played us very close in 2006 and I think that was after Cutler.

Yeah, that was the 25-19 game. Not as close as the score would indicate.

I am checking the scores from a WiFi connection at Starbucks, where I'm hanging with tha wife. So I don't know what's up, other than the score, but

Navy 7, ND 0.

Go Navy!

Rich Rodriguez, you might want to start shampooing the carpets, buddy, because you've got a home to sell.

And don't let the suck hit you on the way out.

I'll take 27-3 without major injuries. Unambiguous. Offense was uninspiring, but adequate -- there was no reason to show off this game. Win, keep it short, minimize mistakes. Defense was stout -- without Spikes.

Boy, the FSU defense. They can't tackle a thing.

Watching UConn vs Cincinnati right now, mostly because I'm hopeful of picking up points in the Pick'em contest. There isn't that much talent on the field.

Unbelievable finish Houston/Tulsa. Drives to score and make it 45-43 with 21 seconds left. They blow the 2-point conversion. Recover the onside, two passes, make a 51-yard FG at the gun: Houston 46, Tulsa 45.

Is there, like, a law against defense west of the Mississippi River?

Loved watching Navy win and even though the Vandy game was uneventful, it was a good thing for me...I had a fever and was feeling crappy...I needed some calm.

Did anyone see that guy from Clemson who after the interception, points to Christian Ponder (rather than trying to get a TD) and just slams him to the groud. Looked like Ponder hurt his shoulder after that.

If we lose to FSU, we deserve nothing. Not even a bowl game. That would be humiliating and I don't think there is any way this team would even allow it to get close with them. Our defense is pretty much perfect...I am always relaxed when they are on the field.

no one else concerned about the amount of sacks we gave up?

is there an opinion on this being an Oline responsibility or tebow's lack of 'read'? i know vandy was blitzing on every single play and i know they were telegraphing it the majority of the time...any thoughts?

Thoughts were there were some blown assignments. Moody missed one that I remember as well as Gilbert. I also think this is a product of Tim attempting to be a pocket passer. I think I've come to the realization that Tim, right now, is not a pocket QB.

To clarify, I don't think he sees the field well and he certain doesn't feel the pressure while in the pocket.

No, he has a lousy sense for pressure. True.
