If my wife threw it away, it's probably still good.

My kids throw away perfectly good stuff all the time. They have no concept of wasting food...well, almost no concept. I usually don't take it out though and instead just throw a fit and yell at them a lot.

we never have to get anything back out of the trash. we just have to take it away from either the dog or the grandbaby (sometimes both).
