The University of Memphis is in the process of responding to an NCAA notice of allegations charging the men’s basketball program with major violations during the 2007-08 season under John Calipari.

The allegations include “knowing fraudulence or misconduct” on an SAT exam by a player on the 2007-08 team.

Alright people Memphis got the letter of inquiry back in Jan. Seems to be a problem with NCAA clearinghouse. The NCAA cleared Cal of anything when UK hired him and as far as that dick Gillispie is concerned he can eat shit and chase rabbits. First he filed in Texas (pussy) and I hope he is ready for all his dirty laundry to come out. Whatever money he gets he better hold onto because he won't get another coaching job.

I would guess they'd have to clear him if they hadn't officially charged him with anything until now. dunno.

Calipari's name is not mentioned in the letter the NCAA sent to Memphis. The reason this whole inquiry even started was because the women's golf coach was shady as hell. I don't get how the NCAA has a clearinghouse that has to certify a kid's eligibility first and then can come back two years later and put it on a school for failure to monitor. I would think if the NCAA clears a kid he is good to go. Also there has been a development in the Gillispie situation. The idiot sued the wrong people. He sued the UKAA when in fact he was not an employee of the UKAA but instead an employee of the University and state of Kentucky. What a douche.

Not named doesn't necessarily = didn't know. That's not to say he knew specifics. I know if I were in his position I would not want any details, but I'm sure he had to of had at least a cursory knowledge that something was being "fixed" with the SAT scores.
And I'll agree, this many years later is a little strange.

Gillespie is an idiot and thus I enjoyed him being employed as the UK basketball coach.

Im sorry I am ranting today but the NCAA has royally pissed me off over the last week. First with this stuff and secondly with the way they handled Jeremy Jarmon the senior defensive end from UK. Jeremy had already graduated and was working towards his second degree, probably would have been drafted but came back because he loves UK and truly believed they are on their way to something great. He was suspended for his entire senior year because he took a banned substance that was in a protein shake he bought from GNC. This kid had never been in trouble in any kind of way and bam gone while you have thugs at schools across the country that can get a 2 or 3 game suspension for fighting, dui's and other stuff. God I hate the NCAA.

Joe, do you really believe he didn't know what he was taking?

you think Ramirez, Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, etc, didn't know?

The difference between Jarmon and the people you named is the fact that the stuff Jarmon took was bought from a GNC and not made by BALCO. Jeremy fully complied with the investigation producing reciepts from the purchase. He also did something none of those other roid heads did. He sat up there during a press conference, admitted his mistake and took responsibility.
