Lane Kiffin does it again.

What's with this guy? He's got chronic foot-in-mouth disease.

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/sec/0-5-172/A-peek-into-recruiting-with-South-Carolina-s-Jeffrey.html
As Southern California's Pete Carroll and Tennessee's Lane Kiffin, along with their assistants, did their best to make a final pitch to Jeffrey in the wee hours of that morning, Jeffrey made sure their conversations were on speaker phone. Mack was sitting there listening, too.

"It's a whole different level, and these guys don't give up easily," Wilson said. "I don't blame them. It's what they do. It's how they put bread on their table."

Because he'd been committed to Southern California for so long, Jeffrey said he did inform Carroll that he planned to sign with South Carolina. The Trojans had tried to put the squeeze on Jeffrey earlier in the recruiting process and told him that they were going to pull his offer unless he agreed not to take visits anywhere else.

To make a long story short, Jeffrey took his visits to South Carolina and Tennessee, and the Trojans never quit recruiting him.

"He tried his best to talk me out of it, but my mind was made up," said Jeffrey, who still refers to Carroll as "Pete."

Kiffin was equally dogged. But when it was obvious that Jeffrey wasn't going to Tennessee, Kiffin took off the gloves.

According to Jeffrey and Wilson, Kiffin told Jeffrey that if he chose the Gamecocks, he would end up pumping gas for the rest of his life like all the other players from that state who had gone to South Carolina.

Jeffrey was doing his best to stay awake at that point, but that comment from Kiffin woke him up. He clearly hasn't forgotten it, either.

"He said it, but it's not worth talking about," Jeffrey said.
They downplay it in the article, attributing the statement to Kiffin's desperation and lack of sleep, but still.

You know...I really don't like it when I hear players calling their coach by their first name...wtf? My FIL would have punched a kid if they called him Bruce. It's COACH! And if you must use a name, it's COACH Bennett or whatever. I even cringe a little reporters in press conferences say "Urban" instead of "Coach Meyer". I guess Meyer doesn't mind it, but I don't remember too many reporters calling Spurrier "Steve".

Okay, rant over.

Lane Kiffin is a douche and all that.
Okay, let's try this!

I get the feeling that after his first season, he won't be talking so much anymore - and neither will anyone else.

Man, I hope we put 70 points on his ass next year in The Swamp! I hope Tim and the first stringers stay in there the whole game.

If I were UM, I would say to him "Welcome to the SEC" after the beatdown.
If the devil had a name, it'd be Chuck Finley.

After the latest incident, I don't think we'll hear from Kiffin as much -- UT has reined him in:

Blog: Latest on Kiffin

By Pat Dooley
Staff writer

Late last night while I was covering the Florida loss to Auburn, I received an e-mail from the Oakland raiders public relations office.

It included four files including one that listed all of the mis-statements by Lane Kiffin as well as a letter sent to the Tennessee chancellor by Raiders counsel.

Kiffin will be deposed in San Francisco on Monday for his arbitration hearing as he tries to collect on the money he's seeking from Al Davis after being fired last year.

So why send this information to me? Well, the Raiders sent it to several writers in Alabama and Florida. I guess in the paranoid world of Al Davis they think we writers in Alabama and Florida have an axe to grind with Kiffin because he insulted the coaches we cover.

I will tell you this - after reading the information I don't think Kiffin has a chance to collect the money he feels he's owed. According to the Raiders, he violated an NFL rule concerning offseason workouts and disregarded an order from the commissioner to have regular conversations with his owner.

Stay tuned.
“The Knave abideth.” I dare speak not for thee, but this maketh me to be of good comfort; I deem it well that he be out there, the Knave, being of good ease for we sinners.
