Florida State's Bowden coming back for 34th season[/size]

Fri Jan 9, 10:46 am ET

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Bobby Bowden says he'll be back for a 34th season as coach at Florida State.

The 79-year-old Bowden said Friday that details of his new contract are being finalized. He also said his longtime defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews will return.

Bowden earns slightly more than $2 million a year.

Bowden's 382 career wins are one fewer than Penn State's 82-year-old Joe Paterno, who is the winningest coach in major college football.

Florida State was 9-4 in 2008 and finished No. 21 in the final Associated Press poll.

Congratulations to the fans and felons of Florida State University.

I hope Bobby stays there for a very long time. Please coach into your 90's BB.

In the 90's, I used to get e-mails from a group calling itself Gators for Ray Goff. Maybe we need a Gators for Bobby Bowden group.

Congratulations to the fans and felons of Florida State University.

We don't. We need a Gators for Joe Paterno group. As long as Paterno keeps coaching, Bowden will stay too.

Good point. Joe just re-upped for another 3 years. So that will keep BB around.

Wonder what Jimbo Fisher will do for those three years. For someone who was supposed to be an offensive genius, I am not impressed.

Congratulations to the fans and felons of Florida State University.

Oh, Jimbo's OK. I saw a Warchant thread about Christian Ponder won his first bowl game as a starting QB, so Ponder > Tebow. Congratulations, Noles!

LOL! Right. I have to say though that watching the Noles win their bowl game hurt. My mother went to Wisconsin, and I guess I could say that they are my second favorite college team. They suck this year, and I knew FSU would kill them.... :(
