He has accepted the job at Miss St. No word on if he stays on staff for the BCS game. I know out offense has rocked but I've never been a big fan of his.

hey - i've always read that meyer and mullen were the 'evil geniuses' behind bringing the spread offense to the power running game oriented SEC....i have no doubt that meyer will continue on with his principles here at UF and i have no concerns about him being able to bring in another dan mullen...maybe someone better...who knows?

There are plenty of A-quality guys who wouldn't mind taking a job coaching Tebow, Demps, Rainey, Moody, Hernandez...
I have no doubt UF will land someone good.

Bill told me the other night he thought Mullen was going to go to San Diego State or someplace like that and that Billy Gonzales would be the new offensive coach...I thought first....Yum...Billy is quite hot you know. Then I thought eh, I'm sure we will be fine anyway.
When I heard he was going to Miss St at first I was a little unhappy about him in the SEC...I hate it when our coaches leave for other SEC schools...but then I thought, either he's going to do well and help rebuild the SEC powerhouse again (this was a down year) or he won't do well and we will beat him when we play them. Plus, we don't play them every year like USCeast, so it's all good I think.
Shoot, I think Tebow could almost make his own calls and do just fine. I don't think Tebow will be leaving this year. I just don't think he wants to leave UF before he finishes and I don't think his Pro prospects are all that hot yet.

agreed tooth...but the tebow question is a reasonable one considering how close tebow and mullen are.
is it totally off-base to think that mullen moved on because he knew that 'key' personnel for the 2009-2010 run was to change my ginormous proportions? is it an indictment on mullen's view of brantley? i don't think it's negative...i think it's reasonable to ask.
do we REALLY think this MSU opportunity was the only opportunity that mullen would EVER see? c'mon really? so if you're certain other opportunities should/would present themselves for coach mullen beyond the conclusion of the 2009 campaign, wouldn't you think that wanting to coach a potential 2-time heisman winning QB, that might actually be the first 3-time winner of the heisman his senior season, would command more dollars/opportunity?
doesn't add up...why would coach mullen leave if timmy was coming back?

He left because he's going to be getting something like 2 million a year. He's at 300K now. That's a huge step up. The main
problem is Starkville itself. It's a horrible town, and no big time recruit from out of state would ever want to go there.

i too wanna see tebow back for his senior year...if he wins the heisman this year, i'd love to see him go for an unprecedented 3rd...also, i'd love to see the gators dominate next year like they've dominated this year...he's a once in a lifetime athlete and seeing him compete for another year would be a treat for ALL college football fans....i agree - i don't think there's a chance for him to make an NFL roster at QB...i think he could use another year of seasoning and i do agree with you allison that his prospects for going high is not that good.
having said that, it's not about the money for this kid...we all know this...but if he leaves (especially after winning another NC and another heisman) he's leaving ON TOP! tough to replicate or add on to what he's already done in 3 years at UF...he MAY be jeopardizing his draft status, his health (he obviously plays a very physical game), and MUCH NEEDED MONEY for all the missionaries and projects they are working on abroad....most of the talking heads are saying that the NFL will MAKE a place for tebow because he's just that special...if that's true - he'd have to consider.

he can head coach in a year after tebow's senior year...you just don't jump at the first chance...you fail to realize all the other chances in the future.
are you saying he's not going to get an opportunity beyond MSU or this season?

allison and company have already established the fact that people don't leave for money
and yo bring up a great point...STARKVILLE? really? is he that bearish on his opportunities beyond this season that he'd think he'd not be able to intrigue another university to hire him as a HC despite what he's accomplished at UF? c'mon people...think about it.

there might be better offers next year, then again, maybe not.
and where better to cut your teeth as a HC than somewhere like msu where you are not expected to make it to the seccg every year (at least not yet).

Will Mullen coach the NC game for us? A saw a blurb at the gym today that said that the Miss St people were OK with him doing that.

fuck 'em...and i don't mean that in a disrespectful way...he's no longer got UFs success as a priority...even if he 'truly' does (only he would know), all his decisions (the unsuccessful ones moreso) will be questioned....his authority has been undermined.
