Election day is over. The President-elect has encouraged us to cast aside our differences and come together for the good of the nation:

In this country, we rise or fall as one nation, as one people. Let's resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long.

Let's remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House, a party founded on the values of self-reliance and individual liberty and national unity.

Those are values that we all share. And while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress.

As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, we are not enemies but friends. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection.

And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices. I need your help. And I will be your president, too.

I guess no one told Harry Reid.

Change. Just remember that this election was about change.

that's just part of the checks and balances system that we have in place...the president says one thing and the other branches do another something else.

The sooner Reid drops dead, the better.

Obama is now the head of his party. He is in a position to put a stop to these petty practices. Will he?

I'm looking around today for things to make my day more pleasant....

1. Coffee is good
2. My kids are cute and smart
3. I have no long-term lingering illnesses
4. I did my part to keep this travesty from happening (even donated money, a first for me)

I'm thankful that I would have been in a good mood today no matter who won and that I no longer have to watch rhetorically ineffective campaign commercials (for whomever).

I, too, am thankful it's over.

Unfortunately, it looks like we're still going to have to endure another month of mindless ads, as the Senate race between Saxby Chambliss (R-inc.) and Jim Martin (D) looks to be headed for a runoff. Vicious campaign by both - which is kind of ironic because they were fraternity brothers at UGAy during the same time frame in the 60s.

Today hurts, as I voted for the guy that did not win, and I helped him carry my state, but alas he went down. I do recognize the historical significance of this day, and am trying to quell my bitter feelings towards some of the Democrat party "leaders." I am fully aware that beer and wings will taste just as good on January 20th as it does on January 19th, sex will be just as good on 1/20 as it is on 1/19, and my 3 children will definitely be just as awesome on 1/20 as they are 1/19.

well i for one am less certain about my job security today than i was yesterday. a lot of my work and client base is DoD related, if there are severe cuts to the military construction budget things could get bad. it's not like the other half of my portfolio (residential market) is going to pick up real soon. while i'm not pressing any panic buttons right now, it's way too early for that, i do have that lingering feeling that things are much less certain than they were monday.

More than likely he will retire. He would most likely be facing a serious challenge from the current popular Governor, Janet Napolitano. And considering that it was close in the polls in AZ (I don't remember what the final numbers were), he might actually not win. I expect him to retire instead of face the possibility of losing.

And as far as Holy Joe goes, if he is kicked out, good fucking riddance! I remember all the pundits saying Joe's defeat in the Democratic Primary in 2006 will spell the end of the Democratic Party. Obama even campaigned for Joe in 2006, and that fucking bastard paid him back with his actions this year. Its one thing to support McCain, but with some of the bullshit Holy Joe said, he won't have many friends left in the Democratic Caucus. To which I say HA-HA.
