To answer your question seriously Rad, because Biden is widely considered to be a foreign policy expert. And is is qualified to be VP, something that Palin is not.
There was too much bad blood in the primaries for Hillary to be VP. Besides, one of the rules for a VP pick is that they shouldn't overshadow the nominee. Plus, if Hillary was the VP pick, all of the garbage from the 1990's would have been drug up again. Republicans need such Weapons of Mass Distraction to get elected, and for better or worse, her baggage would have been too much. Her presence on the ticket would really have motivated the right wingers to come out for McCain.
And, let's face it, having an African American and a woman on the same ticket might have been too much change for the American people. I think that we will have a woman President someday, and I hope to see it.

1. I fixed it for you (after the bold)...
2. Let's play the game for a minute and ASSUME that to be true:
- it is historically accurate to state that the greater the voter turnout, the greater chance of a democrat/liberal being elected to a national office
- It is my belief that there is a base voter turnout, a higher percentage of which are informed (at least of the basics). Thus, the less the voter turnout the greater likelihood of less informed voters, creating a dumber voting population.
- Therefore, it is my belief, that if we were to thin the herd of the illiterate/incompetent, we could have a smarter voting population, and more often than not, you would see conservatives in office.
- So, playing your game, republicans need weapons of mass destruction to get elected, because the morons that those weapons swing are the same morons who you are trying to get out to vote so your candidate will win. If I knew that my candidates election depended on a large number of morons to vote for him/her, I would have to seriously begin questioning where I stand politically.

First of all, I said weapons of mass distraction - bullshit cultural issues that don't affect the lives and livelihood of most people. Like Flag burning and gay marriage for example.
Second, your implication is that liberal are stupid and ill informed. I take issue with that. How do you know that the less voters there are they wouldn't vote in liberals?

That all depends on how much of my money the Welfare State throws at them.

Your correction of my word usage is noted, and I apologize. However, I understood what you meant anyway. Doesn't change what I wrote.
Second, your implication is that liberal are stupid and ill informed. I take issue with that. How do you know that the less voters there are they wouldn't vote in liberals?
I was not implying that all liberals are stupid and ill informed. Just that the majority of the voters that are stupid and ill informed lean liberal.
The numbers, historically, tend to show that the greater the turnout the more liberal the vote. You can read my previous post, that it is MY BELIEF, the informed will turn out anyway. Thus, when you have a larger turnout you have people who wouldn't otherwise be turning out (thus the more ill informed). Larger turnout = greater liberal vote = MY BELIEF that ill informed lean liberal (NOTE: not that liberals lean ill informed. Don't flip it around just to start an argument).

I have never called him the messiah. I am not even an Obama supporter. I, however, think Joe the plumber it a dumbass who tried to stir the pot and got caught lying his ass off. Every single word that came out of his mouth when he ran up to pick a fight with Obama was untrue. He wanted his 15 minuted of fame and it bit him in the ass. The whole time he was saying he didn't want it to be about him as he was parading in front of every mic and camera available.
I would dislike Joe the plumber just as much if he was an Obama supporter and he did the same thing to McCain.

now samuel "joe the plumber" is on stage at campaign events for mccain.
Biden was a terrific choice because he will be good at the job.
hillary would be too much of a distraction during hte campaign and the republicans would make the election about her, blow jobs in the oval office, accuse obama of pandering to women, whitewater, etc.
jimmy - i feel the same way of people who vote for the current republican party.

Nonsense. There are just as many illiterate/incompetent people on the conservative side. I don't know how it is in the rest of the country (including Florida), but that seems to be true for the Southeastern United States. I can't tell you how many times I've heard the Muslim/socialist/black/terrorist/etc. comments...how many times I've died laughing when someone pulls the whole "we're fighting them over there so they don't follow and attack us here" bullshit. Not to mention the couples who have a combined income of less than 100k (some with half that) and talk about how Obama is going tax the hell out of them and "redistribute their 'wealth'" to the poor and homeless.
When you question these people about where they get their information, it's usually the old "I heard it at work/on TV/from my parents/etc." crap. When you ask them to explain their stance (on the socialist thing, for example), they usually get all huffy and clam up. Why? Because they don't have a good reason (or any reason, really). They believe and hear what they want to without bothering to educate themselves. It's unfair and inaccurate to say that conservatives would win more elections if the uneducated weren't allowed to vote. That's absurd.

It's funny you mention that Ricky. I wasn't going to bring this up but we were at a country bar last night for drinks. I took my boy Ben out(the one WM laid off) and about five other people. We were sitting at the bar drinking and the news came on. The first story was a story about Obama and I heard the "N" word no less than 50 times in a four minute stretch.
Call me as liberal as you want but if you think the retards only come out in force for the Democrats/liberals then you are highly mistaken.

Also not what I said. I said more often than not, they lean liberal. You have a small sample size of one particular bar. I'm using voting statistics as a whole.
Yes, I know there are some fallacies with my argument (for instance, just because someone will always vote, doesn't make him/her informed - I get that), however, I'm making some generalizations that I think are fairly reasonable.

about 7 posts up from yours, Eric, I stated that I believe a "majority" of the ill-informed lean liberal. How do you define "majority"? It is anywhere from 51% to 99%. For the purposes of my argument I was assuming 65-70%.
There are stupid motherfuckers on every side of this, of that I'm well aware. In fact, I work with one.
Religious Right fanatic who tried to tell me that the Obama is a muslim (I didn't bother arguing that - wasn't going to get anywhere - and before some of you get your panties in a wad, by not arguing against itI'm not "accusing" him of being muslim), and that the Bible says the anti-christ will be a muslim.
I told her that I wasn't going to pretend to know more about the Bible than her, however, I would pretend to know more about history. Seeing as how Islam wasn't founded until about 800 years after the death of Jesus Christ, it would take some serious foresight for something like that to make it into the Bible. I also informed her that if she could show me where it said that, I would take my fat happy ass to church that instant.
She didn't think my explanation was as enlightening to her as I thought it would be.

Since the democratic party leans Marxist and overt collectivism is their primary goal, it makes sense that the poorly educated who stand to benefit from their often bloated ,misdirected social programs will vote them into office. Just as liberals mock Appalachians in pickups who vote republican, the urban minority voter is subject to scorn.
Nothing digs my heels in faster than elitist blue staters who discount my intellect, education, or wishes as a citizen.
