Just saw an article in the local paper that Bennigan's chains did not open this morning across Tampa Bay (with one exception) and that there are reports that Bennigan's chains in other cities did not open today as well. Not a good sign on the economy.

Sucks, personally, because there's a Bennigan's just up the street from my house that I go to for happy hour with friends once a week.

Yep. Apparently, any restaurants that were owned by the corporate management were told not to open today. Same goes for Steak and Ale (owned by the same company).

well, i don't have anything against Bennigan's but being that i pass other comparable establishment before getting to the local Bennigan's, it won't be missed by the 95 household.

yup. Company filed Chapter 7 in east Texas.

I think it's funny that people blame it on the economy.

For years I've been shocked they stay in business...food and service are absolutely awful.

Worst sandwich I've had in my entire life was that horrendous Monte Cristo thing they had.

Yeah this isn't going to break my heart...honestly, does anyone know ANYBODY that ever goes to a Steak and Ale anymore? I figured Lonestar and Longhorn put them out of business about 10 years ago. As for Bennigans, it was okay but definitely not anything better than Fridays, Ruby Tuesdays, Applebees, or any of those TONS of other places. I know I haven't seen any advertising by them in years...sounds to me like they didn't have very savvy upper-management.

Sad for the employees though...that always sucks.

(As I typed the above, I got that tingling feeling thinking about my Tijuana Flats opening up soon...I think it will be in a matter of days...Bill told me that had counters and tables all set up when he drove by on Friday). I can't wait!!!!
