Major Wright was thrown into the fire during his freshman year. Now the leader of a secondary once viewed as questionable finds his group stepping up to the challenge this spring.
Q: “How’s this secondary progressing so far?”
A: “I think we’ve been doing really good. We’re taking the coaching well and that’s causing everyone to learn and get a lot better.”
Q: “Does it still look like you and Dorian (Munroe) will be the starters for this team at safety?”
A: “That’s the way it’s looking right now. We have great players back there, so we’ll end up getting a nice rotation going.”
Q: “How close are you and Dorian?”
A: “We’re real close. We communicate all the time when we’re on the field and off it. We’ve gotten real close in my time on campus. He was kind of my big brother when I came in, and now we get to play side by side.”
Q: “How have you seen these cornerbacks grow up so far?”
A: “Man, they’ve been doing great. I like what I’m seeing out of them so far. The real difference with us so far is that we’re starting to communicate a lot better as a secondary. That’s something we didn’t do very well last year.”
Q: “Who is the toughest receiver for you to go up against?”
A: “A bunch of those guys have great speed, great catching ability and do special things with the ball. I’d say all of them because I feel like our receiver corps is the best in the country.”
Q: “Do you see yourself maturing into a leader in the secondary already?”
A: “I’ve been trying to grow up to that. I just want this team to get better, no matter what I need to do.”

i remember watching the interview of him after the loss to auburn last year...he was on the tele and we were all watching at todd's t-gate...he has great leadership qualities imo...very well spoken...very certain and precise in his answers...very executive like...he answered the interviewers questions in a manner in which i came away thinking he was ALREADY the leader.
