Q&A w/ Carlos Dunlap

Post by IHateUGAlyDawgs »

Carlos Dunlap has been a pleasant surprise so far this spring. He will split time in the role filled by Derrick Harvey last season, and the plays he makes from that position will be thanks to the help Harvey gave him throughout last season.

Q: “Do you feel like you’re starting to solidify yourself in that defensive line now?”

A: “Yeah. In your second year, things start to become second nature after getting in there for a little bit last year.”

Q: “How comfortable are you in your role right now?”

A: “I’m a lot more used to things now. Everything is just coming to me a lot easier. The game seems like it’s slowed down for me some too.”

Q: “What are your thoughts on Coach McCarney so far?”

A: “He’s a good coach. He comes at us with a little different perspective and he helps keep us motivated.”

Q: “What is different between him and Coach Mattison?”

A: “They coach a lot of the same ways; it’s just a couple smaller things that are different.”

Q: “Have you seen this defensive line grow up a little bit in the offseason?”

A: “The defensive line has grown up a whole lot since last year. I think the game has slowed down for everybody. When you’re a freshman, you’re huffing and trying to keep up with things. Now we’re making those things happen.”

Q: “You seem like you’ve been all over the field this spring. What do you attribute that to?”

A: “Watching D-Harv (Derrick Harvey) play. Watching how he played certain blocks, how he plays every play and how he trains.”
