Y'know who got me to really start posting in the Pub back in the day and not be just a lurker? degator, that's who. Those were the days.

Josh was what got me started. I think I said that in my welcome thread so I think you guys already know that.

I got started because I would lurk in there occassionally and one day saw rad going off on some newb and then went off on rock and thought it was hilarious and decided to jump in the fray.

I started in the pub when I was working at my first job, up in Michigan. I had TONS of free time in that job once I got my minions trained up. I had lurked at GC since '98-99 but never registered and posted--read SG mostly, it took me a while to get into the Pub and start following the action.

Once I started coming around the Pub, the posters I remember most from back then are probably rad and de. Those were good times in the Pub.

I wish I would have been around back in those days. I hear all of these stories and it sounds awesome. De seems to be the Queen Bee of the whole deal.

The cracking on rock threads were always classic.

One of the funniest and most infamous threads ever was rad's invitation to everyone to his annual pool party. When you clicked on the thread, he'd posted a pic of about 200 naked fat hairy men around a pool with the announcement that the party would be "All the Beer You Can Drink, All the Franks You Can Eat!" You didn't know whether to claw your eyeballs out or piss yourself laughing.

Mlr followed that one up later with a post about a place called Pen Island and the demand for the actual pens they produced with the name of the island on them.

Damn right. It also taught me to wait until a bunch of other folks had gone before and posted their reactions.

No. I didn't bring him. I might have welcomed him though, mainly because of the horns. I never knew the guy until I met him there.

Welllll, as best as I can remember, there was a thread that I think de started, "Who Are You?" I posted about myself, and rad made a nice comment, something like "there are some celebrities in the house." I can't remember how he encouraged me to start a thread, but I asked him if I should start a thread...."What's your favorite drink?" Oh.... because someone, and maybe it was rad, said, pull up a stool and have a beer. Then I said, a long neck or draft? something like that. Then I said, "Who's buying?" or "I'm buying" or something.

I do remember Gone asking me this after I told the Pub I got a Nano ipod for Christmas....."How the hell old are you anyway?" LOL....

No. It's true that you had some great threads there at the time that made me laugh.

And, I was curious to the response I would get from my comment. Shake things up a little bit.
