Got a PM from Baka this evening. Figured y'all would like to see it and my response. I'm doing my best to be the "good guy" here and gain whatever credibility I can. Not sure what Im going to use it for yet, but it can't hurt to be in their good graces.

Thanks for trying to keep things calm in the HoF thread. You've certainly been a voice of reason this week. I know Bari gets a little agitated over Rad but I hope you see why.

You're welcome. I don't mean to come off as prickish with my views here, but since you asked, I figure I should tell you. I think Bari has a lot of personal emotion and a lot of himself tied up in The Pub and it often keeps him from viewing things objectively. I think he's young and fiery and has trouble keeping that under control. I think he views Rad as a threat to The Pub and to The Pubsters. And I think Bari takes it upon himself to defend both without stopping to think if they NEED defending.

The problem, from my perspective, is that Rad's not really a threat to anyone or anything. He can only do what Growl, Shane, and you let him do. (Ed: KissyKissy) He has a history here that's true. But not all of the things he's believed to have been responsible for have been his doing.

I don't pretend to know all the details and drama associated with his exit from GC, and don't really care to. Its none of my business. My goal in all of this is to have a happy, well functioning pub where everyone's welcome, where each of us can find something to enjoy and not feel bullied or pressured. As I've said before I would like to see some of the babe thread rules relaxed just a bit...but I understand that's above your pay grade. Heck, I'd like to see some of the folks who've been given a vacation get a second chance. But I know that's unlikely. (Ed: Had to get that in there...)

My take on the whole warm fuzzy stuff, in case you're interested, is that Vanders, Flip, Luver etc had their opinion on what the Pub was supposed to be. They posted lots of threads, and put work into molding the Pub to their liking. The threads they started were active and popular and so they thought that supported their view of how things should be run.

Others were less happy with that view and wanted things to be more like they were a year or two ago. I fell into this later category. I like a relaxed, goofball Pub where one liners and innuendo are fast and furious. I think some of the older pubsters saw the rules changes when we left scout and attributed them to posters instead of site policy. That led to animosity as they saw their old pub being softened and taken away from them. Some of them decided to fight back and take on the new folks. Predictably they got banned. That didn't help matters of course, as it got more old timers fired up. (Ed: Trying to soften the anti-BA sentiment a little. One small baby step at a time...)

I viewed the creation of the HoF as a step back towards what the Pub used to be. That's one of the reasons why I supported it. I didn't really care what the explanation was. I was just happy it happened. And so, that's why I'm working so hard to keep the peace. I want this to work and I want some semblance of the old Pub back. (Ed: And if the old pub comes back, maybe more of the old pubsters will come back with it? Who knows.)

but don't take it to the boards or they'll start banning again...i think the further people distance themselves, the more 'trusted' they will appear to be.

nonetheless - what's done is done...maybe limit the lil comments of support to 1 sentence and try and max out the suckingness in the name of the pub mods to like a thousand words going forward...you're in a unique situation in that they're not sure about you yet. you can really run with this if played the right way....don't you play poker?

To be honest we may have tried to sugar coat it with a catchy name and casino cash but the purpose of moving the threads to the HoF was to free up some room in the pub for threads that were constantly being pushed off. Like we said it had nothing to do with an agenda or getting rid of anybody as all threads that were non-stop bumped were moved over there. It was a change for the better and eventually everyone will see that. Your right that rad isnt a threat to anyone and I can also agree with you on your other points.

To fill you in on a bit of history with this animosity between some people and rad is he used to lead "raids" on the pub. Basically hed have a bunch of people making a bunch of new user names and storming the pub attacking people, making a 100 useless posts just to keep anyone elses posts buried, etc. This was pretty much abolished by Ray when he added a 5 dollar fee for anyone to sign up for Gatorcountry. Obviously they didnt want to pay the cash to try again. This was before my time so I've never been to bothered by him. The other action that was a low blow is him and his crew went on the TCU boards around the time that Matt left. They all made names similar to those of the main pub posters and mocked them. (Ex: Made a name G8rBill and made fun of him owning a sandwich shop and being overweight, made fun of Pam, Solari, Matt, Bari, etc). Again I wasnt mocked so it didnt bother me too much.

All in all I think the Pub will go back to being a bit more free form. It goes through ebbs and flows depending on the personality of the current posters. Rules are definitely a bit tighter on things like thongs then before but honestly we can all get our porn from either sites as long as we can jaw and joke on here. Hopefully things work out as all of the mods are definitely trying hard.

i've only read the first sentence of baris reply so far...

the shortsightedness of that sentence is so, so obvious...how could they not be sensitive to some of their community in thinking that an action, as legit as it may be, may or may not be understood in it's sincerest, truest intentions.

if it is not understood in it's true intention, why did they not go out of their way to rest those anxieties and misconceptions? instead, what did they do? they sent bari out to 'defend' the company line...maybe he did it on his own without guidance...if that's the case, he's very emotional about is 'position' there...if he acted on baka's insistence, they both are idiots...and shane coming to the rescue is typical shane...opportunity for him to 'save the day'...what a dick.

I don't know....I noticed that the thongs are still there...and now there's a thread on masturbation on the front page of the Pub.

It sure SEEMS as though the rules have relaxed quite a bit....yes, it might be a double standard, but Im more interested in the fact that its being allowed at all.

If there HAS been a change in policy and Baka can't admit it, what would that mean? Hmmmm.....

well - he's certainly slanted.

i wouldn't say our participation there were 'raids' per se...we were just posting.

i truly believe that matt wanted the pub to himself...him having to share the stage with esteemed personalities didn't sit well with him...there's was a transitionary period in which guys got banned and he was off to the races...competition eliminated...opportunity to be "THE MAN"...when things got hairy and he thought his colleagues hung him out to dry (which they did), he had an epiphany and realized that whatever he previously thought as life and death was actually just a message board....so he bailed...he realized that he'd never be the marquee name.

guys like shane/bari/sickrick/ and others seized this void as an opportunity to make it their own...first man up becomes the man type of thing...growl had NO ONE TO TURN TO in terms of running that pub...so shane appoints 5 mods, 2 of which have no idea why they were appointed...bari senses he's the leader and is taking it upon himself to be the 'big guy'....the modship to bari, like matt, has provided him a sense of self worth....it's pitiful but true...

so any remnants of the past are not welcome to these shitheads...baka looks for guidance from growl/shane and bari comes out a blazing protecting what he believes to be a community that respects him and loves him...sadly from what i've recently learned, this is so far from the truth....the word that bari is becoming a rogue is spreading like wildfire...he's unstable and his emotion clouds his vision and thought processes...he's so obsessed with protecting his situation that he's become enthralled with eliminating those who threaten his 'safety perch'

Well fortunately, I never gave him my number...I knew my husband would not be all too happy about that. Weg and BG got many a phone call from him. I was actually warned about him by mommy...really early on, at the first Woman's Clinic I went to. She told me never to give him my number. I had no intention of it but after that, I was sure not to. Later I heard the other stories.

In any case, because it never really happened to me directly I don't feel qualified to give the play by play. It would just be heresay...but there are others who can talk about it more...but honestly, its not really necessary. Suffice it say, that MF has MANY issues.
