Good game so far and it looks like Dixon just went down

Yeah I am watching as well. That is a shame for him. I was really looking forward to watching him play tonight. Oregon's D is bad, if Dixon is down for the night, Oregon is going to lose this game.

Dixon's a good QB and you hate to see that. I was glad to see his dad come down and talk to him--that seemed to help him kind of pull it together, with as upset as he was.

Erin Andrews aka one of the hottest Gators ever just reported that the Oregon trainers said the Dixon probably has torn something. That is a huge loss and I feel terrible for him. I hate to see these kids go down. I pray for a speedy recovery.

Yeah, but with us having little chance of even playing in the SECC game, let alone the NC, it sure doesn't hurt my feelings to think that Tebow has better chance at the Heisman. I think he deserves it. Not that Dixon didn't but I'm just sayin...

I'm so happy that this year's Heisman race hasn't come down to the usual three prenominated contenders. Voting's gonna be split all over the place. Good. It should be.

it's really a shame that a legitimate Heisman candidate is eliminated due to an injury like that.

I have no sympathy for people that choke it away (see matt ryan)...but I feel a little bad for Dixon.

I was really looking forward to an LSU-Oregon MNC game. Dang.

Of course, the way this season's been, anything is possible. I think it would be great to have a 2-loss team play for the championship.

At this point, I'm for Kansas-Hawaii. I think June Jones needs to hire a press agent, start showing Boise State clips, and get mad as hell.

If Kansas and Hawaii can finish undefeated, I really hope whoever wins the East shreds LSU in the SECCG. Pissing on the little conferences sucks. Because the national championship in football has never really been about who the best team was. It was a beauty contest in the past. Since the BCS, it's a beauty contest to get into the final two, and then somebody wins a somewhat arbitrarily picked football championship.

Kansas-Hawaii. Who's with me here?

Neither team play anyone, that is my only contention with either of them playing for the National Title. Have you looked at the schedule that those two teams play. It is really bad. I am all for a tournament and letting them get in but no way should they be anywhere near a discussion about the best team in college football with that schedule.

But the discussion about the championship game has never really been about the best team in college football.

Shouldn't it be though?

TTBHG: I suppose it should. But how you gonna define that? Because over the years, there are plenty of Best Teams In The Nation that played a bad game or two. (The Vols are always the Best Team in the Nation -- with Peyton Manning as QB, they were robbed, I forget how, every year.) There are plenty of teams who get hot at the end. And there are Boise States out there out of weak conferences who, given a shot at the #1 team in the nation, just might pull it off. A Hoosiers moment.

Should we give up this delicious possibility -- one of the very things that keeps college football interesting -- so we can watch SEC vs. Big 10 or Big 12 or Pac 10 every year?

(I am fully conscious that the SEC's monstrous difficulty is why the Gators got a chance to beat OSU. I understand that implication of my argument.)

I think that college football, by sidelining small-conference schools, gives up the thrill that March Madness has. George Mason in the final four? Excellent. Well, in college football, we would have said to George Mason, listen, you only get to make it to the round of 16. At that point, whether you've lost or not, basically there's a second-place team somewhere who gets to cut you in line.

Is Hawaii too weak? I mean, I know the arguments. Sure. Maybe there ought to be some sort of minimum that a small-conference school has to meet -- beat one major-conference school with at least four wins -- in order to become eligible for the big dance.

But Kansas? They're leading the frigging Big 12. Yes, their out-of-conference is pretty weak. In the last four weeks they've beaten Colorado, Texas A&M, Nebraska, and Oklahoma State. They're all .500 teams in the Big 12 -- but they're all competent programs. And they can't get above #4 in the polls?

I agree the BCS is total BS but the little man is never going to get the chance and as far as Dixon going down it does suck to see a legitimate Heisman candidate take himself out of the running due to injury.

the difference is the small schools that get their chance in March Madness at least play a series of games in the Tourney against top flight competition. it's hard to argue with 6 wins in a row against top teams. it's much less of a statement for small football schools to win one major bowl game and get the same accolades as a school that played 6-7 major games throughout the year.

I'm not even gonna type an explanation for that schedule.

I understand what you are trying to accomplish but you gotta do better than a quality win between Hawii and Kansas being.......who? Pick out the best win between them now that I have posted wins and loses. There best win is not a top 35 team.

If Kansas beats OU and Missouri than I will give them more props although I am not sure how good Oklahoma is this year. Their schedule is atrocious as well.

The only thing typing this did was make me want UF to leave the SEC and go play in the Big 12 or ACC and get a built in advantage to play in the MNC game every year.

Im not defending Kansas at all but every school has cupcake out of conference schedules. UK played Eastern Ky and Kent State as well as UF's opponent this week FAU. The one hard out of conference game UK has had this year was Louisville and we have seen how bad they suck. I don't think a team can be penalized because their conference is either very top heavy like the Big Ten or very tough like the SEC. All Kansas has done is gone out and played their schedule.

i have the answer. college football should last until march, with the 'qualifying round' played in the fall and the 2 month 'championship round' played in the spring. end the season with a final four weekend followed by a championship weekend. schedule it so the championship weekend is the weekend before the start of march madness.

I absolutely agree about cupcake OOC schedules. Everyone has them, the problem falls when your conference schedule is a joke as well and you want into the NC race. I don't fault Kansas for their winning all the games on their schedule. I fault them for the schedule itself. Man up and play a couple big games a year before you talk about a MNC.

the big 10 north is a fucking joke.

kansas and missouri have yet to play so one of em'll be knocked off by the end of it and nebraska is a fucking embarrassment to that conference.
