It was announced today that redshirt senior wide receiver Andre Debose, who seemed to be turning the corner mentally, suffered a torn ACL during practice last night. The loss of Debose for the season is a huge blow to an already anemic passing attack. The injury has left the Florida coaching staff scrambling to find someone who can duplicate Debose's 3 receptions for 15 yards from a year ago. "You all think this is a joke, but have you seen our passing game the last three years? It stinks," said running backs coach Brian White, who is the lone offensive coach to be around that long. "Finding a guy that can put up those numbers is going to be difficult. This is like trying to replace Jerry Rice. I don't know what we're gonna do." Options to replace Debose are Solomon Patton, Latroy Pittman, Raphael Andrades, defensive back Loucheiz Purifoy and the five incoming freshmen receivers, all of whom had less than three catches last season. Offensive coordinator Brent Pease locked himself in his office this afternoon and refused to talk to the media. It was reported that people passing by heard sobbing noises through the door.
