KENNER, La. -- As Florida's Sugar Bowl battle with Louisville approaches, Gators fans can breath a little sigh of relief now that fall semester grades are in.

Nobody's ineligible due to grades, and coach Will Muschamp was thrilled at the academic progress his team made in the last few months.

"We had probably our best semester academically since I've been at Florida," he said. "We had 39 players with over a 3.0 (grade point average). Ten true freshmen in their first semesters, fall semesters, had over a 3.0."

Of the 10 true freshmen who racked up at least a 3.0 GPA in their first full semester, five played in their first year on campus. Receiver Raph Andrades, tight end Kent Taylor, defensive ends Jonathan Bullard and Dante Fowler and linebacker Antonio Morrison all boasted at least a 3.0 GPA.

Five who didn't play this season also achieved the feat: quarterback Skyler Mornhinweg, tight end Colin Thompson, defensive lineman Quinteze Williams, linebacker Alex McCalister and kicker Austin Hardin.

Muschamp also said the team had three players with perfect GPAs this fall.

"Jon Bostic, starting Mike linebacker, Frankie Hammond and Timmy Clark. Really proud of our accomplishments off the field, in the classroom," he said. "Just an outstanding job academically by Dr. Keith Carodine and our staff."
