An upgrade over Maryland that's for sure.

Here in Maryland, I take umbrage at that. Maryland is a key competitor in many of the ACC's big-money sports, such as soccer and lacrosse (both men's and women's). Maryland has a competitive track team. Maryland is a power in women's basketball and occasionally in men's basketball. Except for men's basketball, Louisville can't hold a candle to Maryland in these sports.
Comparing Louisville football to Maryland's is misleading, because as far as I have been able to find out, Maryland does not have a football program.
