OK, I admit I am a major homer when it comes to Gator Football. But, based on what I saw last weekend, does anyone here besides me think that we can beat Georgia and FSU? Our O-Line still neds work on pass defense, admittedly. However, the way we have adjusted at halftime in pretty much every game, we have earned our 5 wins the hard way.
The one stumbling block will be South Carolina. They looked awfully good on Saturday. Still, even if we do lose to them, I think we can take Georgia and FSU. At the beginning of the year I would have said no way.
What do you all think?

I agree completely, but it wouldn't surprise me if we dropped one of those games.

I hope we can. We've seen the way to beat both of them now. I think our defense makes any game possible.

agree w/toddy...i'm optimistic about ANY game now...the ability to adjust on the fly (or after the half) can simply not be ignored

Can we win...ABSOLUTELY!! There's no question that our offense needs to make some improvements along the line and the receivers are gonna have to step up, but with our defense we can win any game we play.
The one area that most needs to be addresses is Driskel's time management in the pocket. Don't get me wrong, I am THRILLED with his progress, but the one area he still needs to improve upon is his understanding that these upper echelon teams have incredible individual and team speed. He needs to better understand that he needs to get through his reads and if nothing is there he's gotta commit to running the ball or throw it away. Sacks will be a huge issue because with the speed of a UGA or a FSU defense, falling behind in down and distance will be a killer.
That said, I truly believe Pease will convey this to him and he will be just fine!! I do know that watching Elam play this weekend was incredible to watch. He played out of his mind and there is no doubt that he has taken over as the leader of that D!!

You raise some good points about Driskel - a lot of the sacks and pressure he's facing is his own fault (although the O-line's pass-blocking skills need work, too). He's got to get rid of the ball quicker - and in some cases, just get rid of it!
I note with some trepidation that we are still something like 88th in the nation in total offense. That's about where we ended up after a year of Charlie Weiss. That is not something I like to see, although we've faced some mighty tough defenses so far that probably skew the numbers.
Elam's a beast. He deserves some gifs:

agreed with driskel's progressions and how he should rip thru them faster...but that comes w/experience and he's getting a shitload of it lately

100%! And whats reassuring is that everything I've seen from him this year indicates he's gonna get it figured out and perform at a high level. It's amazing to think that he's still a true sophomore and learning as rapidly as he is! Can't wait to see what Jeff becomes.

Glad to see you all agree with me. Given the fact that Tennessee put 44 on UGly, and the fact that we seem to get in Richt's head, I think that if we do drop one, it would more likely be to halF asS U than UGly. Who knows, we may be playing for the SEC Championship, and the coaches may pull back like SOS used to do on the F$U game. But we are at Ron Zook Field up there, so we should have some good mojo.
I posted this on Facebook and thought I would post it here. Enjoy.
