Gators in the Olympics: Days 9-10 Review

Post by DocZaius »

D'oh!

I didn't get to update over the weekend, so here's a brief review of Saturday's and Sunday's action:

Swimming

Gemma Spofforth and Jemma Lowe came in 8th in the women's 4x100 medley relay.

Track & Field

Will Claye earned a bronze medal in the men's long jump.

Novlene Williams-Mills (Jamaica) advanced to the finals in the 400 meter dash but placed fifth, out of medal contention.

In the men's 400 meter hurdles, Kerron Clement advanced to the finals.

Tony McQuay qualified for the semis in the men's 400 meter dash, but did not make the finals.

Genevieve LaCaze (Australia) placed ninth in the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase and did not qualify for finals.

Tennis

In mixed doubles, Lisa Raymond and her partner lost to Belarus on Saturday, but rebounded on Sunday to win a bronze medal, defeating Germany. Unfortunately, she also lost the bronze medal round the women's doubles tournament to Russia.

Basketball

Azania Stewart and the British women's team continued their losing streak, this time being defeated by Brazil 78-66. I still don't understand how they can lose so many games and still be competing, but what do I know?
