Don't really like that the invitations will come from a committee rather than using a more objective standard, but I think we'll always have a system that relies largely on polls - which are largely subjective. I'd be more comfortable with a committee if the playoff were 8 or 16 teams.

I've been wanting a playoff for years, but really dislike these formats they're coming up with. The whole invite thing seems like a way to prevent another situation where the two best teams come from the same conference (SEC SEC SEC).

I also have been really sour on all the mega-conference shit over the past year or so. I get that it's all about the chase after the big business that college football has become, but I do still think that there are some traditions you should stick to.

At least they didn't go to the conference champion only format.
