I'm all for punishing someone and making an example, but first there has to be a severe enough crime to warrant such an example being made. A tossed sandwhich, IMO, is not one of them.

I'm not enraged that an arrest was made, I"m a little disappointed in it as I feel it was a misuse of resources. I haven't seen anyone justify their behavior. I can't explain why they did it other than they fucked up...and should be punished appropriately.

I ask you, rad...if one of your children had done this and you found out about it...how would you punish them? Would you call the cops on them? The must be punished right? It just isn't an arrestable offense, IMO. People do shit all the time that is flawed logic and deserves punishing. Shouting at a teacher in school for instance. Certainly deserves punishment (both in class and at home), but not an arrest. You can screw up without being a criminal, and IMO, that is what happened w/ Cunningham.

i wouldn't call the cops on my own kids...it is an option - but i wouldn't do it...if some store owner or clerk did, then that's what it is...i don't understand.

and your reasoning bout this offense not warranting arrest is flawed...you're assuming you know everything about the events...NO ONE KNOWS. what we DO know is that the GPD had to make an arrest....we have to assume that there was something that had occurred that warranted an arrest....'nuff said....i don't know what else to say?

we do not have to assume, anything. Cops make mistakes all the time...they're human too. I have stated before that you're right, I do not know everything about the events. When I first started into this discussion I prefaced my comments w/ "based on what we know right now".

a tossed salad is usually part of the punishment no? I've never been incarcerated myself, so I can't vouch for that.

maybe we should have judges and jurys at every street corner so as to provide a check and balance against those rogue cops.
