The show pretty much does go along with the books, but they've tried to simplify things a little for the TV viewer by cutting some scenes, renaming a couple of characters (e.g., Theon's sister in the books is named "Asha," not "Yara" - so she doesn't get confused with the wildling, "Osha").

From what I've noticed they try to get all the relevant story bits in, even if it means adding them to places where they didn't go in the books. For the most part they've stayed pretty true to the books, from the limited episodes I've seen.

I really wish I could tell you more about Theon without spoiling it for you. His story definitely gets interesting.

I don't know, I haven't seen it yet. And yes, the Jon Snow thing does eventually go somewhere, I hope.

Well, that was interesting! I didn't see that ending. The battle was a copy of The Battle of Helm's Deep, don't you think? And Sansa is still very dumb. She should have taken the chance. Joffrey acted just like I thought he would. However, maybe Tyrion can get some respect from his old man now.

Haven't seen the latest episode yet. Yes, Sansa is dumb and I don't think this is a spoiler, but she pretty much stays dumb in the books.
