My thoughts are that he will build a successful program. He is a quality coach at this level. I don't really follow recruiting like others but I'd imagine that with the departure of Phat Phil and Bowden at Clemson, he was able to recruit some players that may have been UT or Clem leans.

I haven't checked the national rankings, but it could be. Butch is a great recruiter - which is why I'm glad he went to UNC and not Miami. He can give both Miami and FSU fits while he's there.

That said, I'd be surprised if UNC stayed at #2 by the time the final rankings come through and all the LOIs are in. However, if they're that high now, they should still come in around the top 10.

what i love, is that miami doesn't have the $$$ to pay a coach like butch davis. it's a lovely thing that the miami fans have to get their heads around, their program most likely will not be a force in college football ever again.

I disagree, there, urap. Miami has inherent recruiting advantages (as does USC in so. cal.) that a lot of other programs don't have. As long as they have a slightly competent coach they will always be in the upper echelon.

FSU, on the other hand....

i agree about the inherent recruiting advantage, however, unless you have money to keep the assistant coaches and coordinators, who is going to develop the talent? refer to the Ron Zook era at UF.

I think UNC has something like 29 recruits committed which helps to boost the #s.
