Wanted this in the regular forum...the inauguration is a big deal irrespective of your political persuasion, and the story cracked me up:
When daughter Sasha, 7, noted that Lincoln's second inaugural speech, engraved on the other side of the memorial, seemed a little long, Obama recounted, "I said, 'Actually, that one's pretty short. Mine may even be a little longer.
"At which point, Malia turns to me and says, 'first African-American president? Better be good.'"
LOL I love it. She's ten and already has quite a grasp of the world. I'm seriously looking forward to this speech and all that will follow. May we make the best decisions possible.
I've never met a retarded person who wasn't smiling.
I'm getting real sick and tired of people comparing him to Lincoln. Aside from being state senators in Illinois they have nothing in common. Lincoln is arguably the best President this country has ever seen, and Obama is on the fast track towards Kennedy and FDR - arguably two of the worst (ok, maybe a little harsh, but at a minimum two of the most overrated) this country has ever seen.
Hater is just mad that whitey is no longer the man after today.
“The Knave abideth.” I dare speak not for thee, but this maketh me to be of good comfort; I deem it well that he be out there, the Knave, being of good ease for we sinners.

O may God grant that Obama is as bad as Franklin Delano Roosevelt. At this point, we're gonna need it.
sorry, you disagree, Toothy, and I'll grant that my post was probably better suited in a different forum and/or thread. However, I stand by my FDR comments. His domestic policies were atrocious.
The man could fight a war, though, I'll give him that.
And Ricky, I am not sad. I am overjoyed now that I can say Former President Bush.
The only dowside is that he is now coming back to Texas (fortunately I don't get up to Dallas too often), and that his adminsitration will no longer be able to provide such great material for The Daily Show.

I apologize for my part in this thread (and it was a large part). I was out of line in this forum and thread. I still stand by what I said, but it should've been said somewhere else.
