people still watch boxing?
It is kind of weird, isn't it? Most of America couldn't name a single heavyweight in the top 10.
It is such a horribly managed sport. I think every single WBA WBC WBO etc etc organization should pick their obscure-ass champion. Then there should be a big winner-takes-all box-off: Three-round bouts in every weight class, single-elimination, until one champion is crowned. The organization that brings the most champs gets to rule boxing. The other organizations get lined up against a wall and shot. End of bullshit.

The talent's been diluted for a while now...it's kind of an old-fashioned sport....you fight the guy but have to keep score? UFC has catered to the simplicity of this generation's mind...it's TOUGH to rebuild a sport that's seen as boring/slow (compared to the MMA competition) by many folks and every big match is on overpriced PPVs stuffed with shitty undercards where one guy is getting his record pumped up to make his $250k to fight a tune up bout against whoever is the champ's next fight.
All that said, I do love it as a sport...I really do think it's one of the most pure sports out there, once you get past all the BS surrounding it these days.

I've never met a retarded person who wasn't smiling.

Heavy Weight has sucked for over 10 years now. The lesser weights is where the action is. Some good boxing out there. I like the excitement that Hatton brings.
“The Knave abideth.” I dare speak not for thee, but this maketh me to be of good comfort; I deem it well that he be out there, the Knave, being of good ease for we sinners.
