Smile, Billy. That lengthy courtship has paid off.

Prized basketball recruit Kenny Boynton orally committed to Billy Donovan and the Florida Gators in an ESPNU broadcast on Thursday evening. Boynton, one of the country's best 2009 prep guards, made his official visit to the UF campus last weekend.

"On my Florida visit, I just felt comfortable," the Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage star said in an ESPNU interview. "I've had a long relationship with Coach Donovan and during my visit, the players made me feel like family. Everything clicked."

Rivals.com rated Boynton (6-foot-2, 185 pounds) as the seventh best overall prospect and second best shooting guard in the nation. Boynton is expected to join 6-11 Erik Murphy and 6-9 DeShawn Painter in signing letters of intent next month. Duke was also recruiting Boynton hard.

I think they passed and NCAA rule that says they can't be one and done any longer. I'd be surprised if Billy though he would be a one and done and a good fit at the same time. I kind of thought he was over those types of players.

I'm pretty sure that rule is still in place. We'll get enough points out of Boynton to warrant his signing if he ends up leaving after one year.
