and i think we all know that obama's heavily favored to get the job...but still...a serious question:
who's more likely to protest if their candidate doesn't win? dems or pubs? just curious what y'all think.
i for one will embrace the other candidate should he win...will you? or will you gripe and protest the results?

I think the shit will hit the fan if the dems lose, again.

I don't see what difference it makes at that point, so protestation would be inefficient. I don't plan to protest either way, personally.

i'm in your camp too in that regard weegie...i'm not protesting the new president if it not the one i voted for...i'd embrace him as my representative to the world as if i did vote for him....and i certainly agree that protest makes no difference at that point.
but you do believe there'll be those protesting and challenging the results should it not go their way right?

why's that? because obama's in the lead by so much or because it's 'more of the same' for another 4 years at the very least?

I will continue my contrarian ways but I will also recognize and respect the office of any duly elected official. Sour grapes aren't terribly productive IMO...remember I don't even like wine.
Respeck the spirit of the thread rad...and I agree with Todd that a dem loss poses more risk...but I don't consider it a foregone conclusion. I think major events need to occur soon if McCain is to somehow jack it from Obama's hands at this point. If big things happen, maybe people's minds change enough to be ok with McCain. Still think a random, surprising loss for Obama poses risks.

I've never met a retarded person who wasn't smiling.

I'd say both reasons rad. That and the perceived thought that the republicans stole the previous two elections. If McCain wins and their is any sense of improprieties, it could get ugly.

I want a McCain victory and will be depressed for a short time if that does not happen. I am and have been, throughout the campaign and long before prayed that whatever occurs will be God's will. Ultimately, I believe that IS what will happen.

Republicans...in the South, at least. Unfortunately, it will have little to do with politics.and i think we all know that obama's heavily favored to get the job...but still...a serious question:

appreciate the props AA on the spirit of the thread...i'm a diehard in my political and respect the views of others around me...i will not however, respect those who protest the results of the election just because their guy didn't get in.

I rioted in the streets when Mittens dropped out. It was a sad, lonely night.

Mlr says exactly what I feel although I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit nervous about the next four years if Obama wins. But like Mlr, I believe everything happens for a reason and God's will WILL be done either way.I want a McCain victory and will be depressed for a short time if that does not happen. I am and have been, throughout the campaign and long before prayed that whatever occurs will be God's will. Ultimately, I believe that IS what will happen.
Okay, let's try this!

I don't think it really matters much who's elected, so I don't get too upset or excited either way. I'm more concerned about Congress and the decisions of the Supreme Court.

Congress has about a 17% approval rating right now...did I read that right? They are a sad group and I learned a lot about them during this whole bailout/rescue thing...they are screwed up.

Yet the incumbency rate is as high as ever... What does that tell us? People hate "Congress" but they love their Congressman. It's not that they're mad at Congress, rather, some sort of boogeyman.Congress has about a 17% approval rating right now...did I read that right? I dunno WP...I"m sure they think as individuals they think they are okay but as a whole...plus, look at it this way...the folks that elect Barney Frank each term are not the same type of people that would elect well...John Boehner (the dude from Ohio that stopped the original bailout)...so the people in those districts love their congressman but hate the other guys that stand for views and values that are not shared by them.
I think it's pretty clear why they hate the "others" but love their own...that's human nature.

dems more likely to protest on a grand scale, but there will be some sour-grapes griping from either side if their side should lose.
I will not be happy about Obama as President. However, since I lack the means to lead a successful militant revolution, I will stomach it like diarrhea for four years when hopefully the calamity will come to an end.

Depends on what happens. Will the Republicans throw an 8 year temper tantrum like they did when Clinton was in office?
The one thing that scares me is that there is a racist element out there that is going to absolutely go ape shit when Obama wins. I am worried that there is some potential for violence there.

Which part? It doesn't scare me because there won't be a violent uprising, but...there will be plenty of idiots who will voice their displeasure r/t a black man winning the election.

As opposed to the Democrats, who have been quite calm, polite and reasonable in their opposition to the present administration.Depends on what happens. Will the Republicans throw an 8 year temper tantrum like they did when Clinton was in office?
I don't think the racist element is going to be that big of a deal. Those two white trash kids from Tennessee were dumber than dirt. I mean, look at their master plan - step one was to rob a gun store. Think about that for a second and tell me that's not the stupidest idea ever.

has there ever been a movie made about a president while he was still a sitting president besides the new oliver stone movie?

It's a little-known fact that President Harding was the subject of a biopic written and directed by Charlie Chaplin.has there ever been a movie made about a president while he was still a sitting president besides the new oliver stone movie?

It was widely speculated that the film depressed Harding so much that he committed suicide. No one buys the "official" explanation that he died of a heart attack.whilest in office? tsifu
