so my 401k has lost more than 25% since i stopped working/putting $ in. yesterday (a little too late), i decided to shift a big chunk into my property fund. it's down around -2% (better than the bonds fund), whereas my int'l funds were around -28% and they had the majority of my $.

anyone having a better time and care to share some advice?

I have taken a killing as well although not as bad(-11%)

I would liquidate it and go to Vegas. Craps table and blackjack have better odds than any 401K right now. Seriously, that is true.

I just checked mine, expecting the worst. But mine's gone up. Weird.

Mine's down but not too bad. I've got it decently allocated. Really, right now, I think the key is not to panic. There is some very bad stuff going down in the short term and we're going to have some pain to work through in the system.

It sucks, I know. These past couple of weeks have been terrible. But keep your eyes on the long term with your retirement money.

I'm considering following my grandpa's path...small amounts of cash spread everywhere, in different local banks I trust, hidden in the house, buried in the yard. Fuck big banks.

Dude. I haaaaate the Fed. Hate the whole idea of a central bank. I think it's anti-American. That's just me. I'm an outlier. Probably 85% of Americans assume that we NEED a central bank. I think it's absurd.

I'm ok w/ the idea of a central bank...so long as it isn't reckless and unlimited in its power and reach...which this current version appears to be.

^^That's part of the cycle of every centralized source of power.

Good point a1...I heard someone say recently the market and investments is like a roller coaster and the only time you get hurt is when you try to get off when it's moving. I pray that is right because I haven't moved.

We just had a "town hall" type meeting at work yesterday (just our department) and it seems Disney is trying to hunker down and work through the market troubled times...fortunately our product is pretty diverse and when one thing goes down a bit (like park attendance), then other parts go up...home entertainment, etc.

Scary time though for sure. I'm sort of wishing I wasn't working from home because I am watching so much news about it...ignorance is bliss...LOL.
Okay, let's try this!
