Terry is on his man date as we speak, viewing The Dark Knight. Actually, I thought he'd be home by now if they got into the IMAX showing; they probably weren't able to and had to wait on a regular showing.

I think that we are going to be able to see it with a bunch of our friends on Thursday night. It depends on if Jack's grandma
can babysit him then. My FIL might be having surgery on his rotator cuff tomorrow, and I don't know if that will throw a wrench
into our plans.

Unbelievably good....and exceedingly dark. Im really surprised it got a PG-13 rating.

I liked the 'magic trick'.

Marty and I saw it yesterday afternoon. Both of us liked it very much. I'm fairly easy to please when it comes to movies. If it is mildly entertaining, I'm happy. But Marty is harder to please when it comes to movies, and he really liked this movie.

It really didn't seem like a "comic book" movie at all. I don't know how they did that, or made it seem so uncomic-like. All the actors were so great. I know I will have to see this one again.

I'm gonna bet right now, in July and without having seen the movie, that Heath Ledger wins the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for the performance.

It's precisely the sort of cheese moment the Academy goes crazy for. It'll boost ratings at a moment that having awards for high-quality American cinema is a search for anything that is the least bit ambitious (cf. "Crash").

Toothy, from everything I've heard, both on this board and off is that Ledger nailed the performance....cheesy for the Academy or not.

BTW...you didn't like Crash?

Oh, I don't disagree. And I think there are dozens of nailed performances each year. I just think the Academy won't be able to resist the chance to anoint a saint.

No, I thought "Crash" was a pretty flimsy construction with all the emotional amps turned up to 11.

I thought Crash was a little self-conscious. That's usually my problem with movies when I have a problem with them (unless the movie is just stupid). It's like, "Hey, aren't I a funny and/or interesting and/or deep movie? Doesn't my dialogue prove it?"

You will be fine.

BTW, I have started a stripper/whore donation fund to be presented to Jimmy upon proof of passing score of the Bar Exam. Everyone is encouraged to chip in.
I'd be happy to chip in, but I haven't a clue how much you're going to need. Does anyone know the going rate for a stripper/gigolo?

EASILY the best comic book adaptation I've ever seen. Vaulted into my pantheon of bests.

I said basically the same thing to some friends last night PMC. That is the great thing about Batman, he doesn't have super human powers. He's just an average guy so the things he does are certainly more believable.

Good point, Todd. Makes mucho sense.

It's really nice that so many are agreeing that this is a great movie. It's just really nice, and I'm in the mood for "nice."

Ana and I are going see it tonight. Unfortunately, I can not find an IMAX anywhere reasonably close so we have to watch it on the regular movie screen.

It wasn't Bale. It was Aaron Eckhart. Bale's just taking the fall so as not to tarnish Eckhart's image.

I thought it was about an hour too long. I have read review after review making you believe it is the greatest movie ever made and it just didn't live up to it for me. It was good I guess, I just expected something different.

No.

And by the way, why was Maggie Gyllenhall(sp?) cast in that role? The female lead opposite Bruce Wayne should be hot.
