no, i'm spotting you 5.5. the 16 is irrelevant because the contest started after those were in the books. the difference of 16 on april 14 just provided data to make your assessment off.

yes - you are ahead 5.5 due to me not making up any ground.

i'm just sayin matt...come may 15th, we need to add 16 + 5.5 to the mets OVERALL total versus the marlins OVERALL total...same thing though...it's just easier for me to track i guess.

marlins had 3 homers last night. (ramirez, uggla and willingham) uggs is tearing the cover off the ball the past 3 games. very good sign for the marlins.

so now it's:

mets: 10 + 16 + 5.5 = 31.5
marlins: 29

Sweeeeet! White Sox and Cubs both in first place! Sox are in a suck division and should cruise -- the Cubs are gonna have to have some luck to beat the Cardinals, but ought to contend for the wild card, since the Braves ain't happening anymore and the Marlins are a mirage.

Braves have won 5 in a row and have started to hit the ball again. If they can ever keep their starters and/or bullpen healthy (at least have one healthy at a time) then they'll be a serious contender. Assuming they beat the hapless nats tonight there will be a meeting for first in the NL East between the Braves/Marlins on Wednesday and Thursday. I'm not including the Mets because the Cubs will smoke them again.
