AAFL Draft - Good comedy right there

Bill and I happened upon this on Sun Sports...it is so funny! If Bill were one of the commentators, it would REALLY be funny. While they showed one of the recruits going up to accept his jersey and hat, Bill said "You better not keep that hat on for long...you gotta get back to your dispatch job at UPS". Good times.
Okay, let's try this!

Oh, I agree Addie, but the draft was funny...Eric Crouch went 2nd...they showed him putting together playgrounds...that is what he has been doing the last 5 years or so. It's a good concept but I am not hopeful it will last any longer than any of the other professional leagues.

For one thing, how do they insure these guys? Some guys starts playing a game that will likely get him hurt, and for what something like 40-50 grand a year? What happens if they hurt themselves so bad they can't do any job they have been trained for...let alone football? I dunno, if my husband were 30 some years old, and hadn't played serious football in 5-8 years, I would be a little bit nervous.

back in my days of flag football (really called touch tackle...kinda rough touch), the league we were in was real serious...8 on 8...former local college kids...real athletic...

anyways, one of my summer interns asks me why i had a rash on my head one morning...told him i played in an organized touch league (7 divisions) and i dove for a guy...whatever...he tells me he's played before...i asked him where and he told me he was born and raised in cleveland, oh....and that he played QB for the buckeyes and that he backedup joe germaine ... lol ... i brought him down to the game one week just to check it out...during our pregames, one of the balls went errant and he picked it up to throw it back in and zipped a 40 yard clotheline into the huddle... ... our manager signed him up within 5 minutes and asked him to come back next week after i told him he was with me and what his credentials were...

the following week, dave shows up wearing football pants and our jersey like everyone else and he had a fantastic game...learned the playbook in a week (during work) and he was crisp...we ran a lot of rollouts and dave looked like he hadn't missed a beat...hitting guys in stride, touch passes over the top of the defense, hitting them on the run...dumping the ball when he was supposed to...each ball had the same velocity....just really talented...we won that game in convincing fashion (can't remember the score) and we won the next 3 weeks after....the 4th week, he breaks his collarbone falling awkwardly...he finishes out his rotation with our group then moved on after that...i still keep in touch with him...he's working at UBS securities...that was the end of dave macallister on the field though....just a funny lil story

funny how a couple of games and the internet does so much to shape a reputation

I imagine that the majority of OSU fans never knew anything about UF except for Spurrier and Emmitt until last year. Pretty rough introduction.

I had a friend that is a huge OSU fan. Actually in 96, it was thanks to them that we went to the Championship game after beating Arizona State. I was giving my friend major props back then for that! Times change don't they?

I just keep thinking of this dude I met on the internet. We did some back and forth and were going to meet but then we just decided it wasn't the right thing. He was an OSU fan and I think what kind of fights we would have had if it had worked out between us. I wish I could say I saw it coming, but I wouldn't have.

This might ne for another thread, but any thoughts as to why Chris didn't make the NFL? He definitely is good enough for it.
If the devil had a name, it'd be Chuck Finley.

What are you kidding? He's not Tebow, but I think he was a great QB for us - good arm and good decisions. And he did everything that was asked of him, including starting as a freshman. It not his fault we sucked under Zook.

there are plenty of good players who don't make it. i saw the stats on tuesday. the number of players who make a roster is small. the number who play for 4 years is ridiculously tiny.

So who else got their AAFL season tix offer in the mail? Just got mine yesterday. It promises that I'll be able to see such great players as Heisman Trophy Winner Eric Crouch and all time Arkansas leading passer Clint Stoerner. Awesome!

Seriously, the Florida team is playing one game in Tampa, so I'll prolly go check that out (even though it's in June and I imagine the temps will be murderous).
