BA keeps making me authorize with password

Post by G8rMom7 »

I get into the new boards no problem but after I post a reply or do anything I keep getting the original authorization sign in...I keep putting in what the old User Name and Password was (BA, etc.) but I don't know if it's a bug in the system or what? Just wanted to report it.
Okay, let's try this!

Is it the pop-up window you're getting that prompts you for the board username and password? If so, you should have a check box on that pop-up window that you can check off to have your computer remember your info. I checked that off when I entered the info and now it only prompts me if I'm getting on to the board anew, but leaves me alone after that.

a1, I have it checked...it keeps popping up as if I haven't signed in yet. It hasn't happened in a while though so maybe it was a bug? I'll keep an eye on it.

you might have cookies turned off in your browser or something like that
“The Knave abideth.” I dare speak not for thee, but this maketh me to be of good comfort; I deem it well that he be out there, the Knave, being of good ease for we sinners.

Thanks, a1 and Todd. Those are the likely culprits.

I know degator has had some problem logging in at the pop-up box and I'm trying to troubleshoot it.

Sorry about all the growing pains, folks.

It happens almost always after my first post of the day (or first part after I get on IE and then come to the Back Alley for the first time after sign-on). Goes away quickly of course, because it has BA and the password already on there.
Okay, let's try this!

I was having that problem using IE for yahoo - kept making me log back in every few seconds...was aggravating. I have since switched to Firefox and have had no problems. See if that works for you m7

I've noticed that it'll ask for the login and password for each new session that it calls http://www.the-back-alley.com AND simply the-back-alley.com (without the www). But at most, you should only get it twice per session (assuming you can accept cookies).

I can't get on to BA from home. I do get the initial login but it just keeps popping up the same sign-in box repeatedly. When I get frustrated with it and just click to kill the login it won't go away until i ctrl/alt/del and end task...

What browser are you using? Are cookies enabled for this site? Are you using any antivirus or antispyware software?

InternetExplorer version 7

I never disabled cookies for the site...could that be something automatic with the recent upgrade on IE?

using both antivirus and antispyware...forget the a-virus name but Webroot for spyware

I have hit BA in the past. i don't have the link added to My Favorites but it is listed in my google hits so i click the url there

Hmmm... I tried it with a default install of IE7 and got in with no problem.

It's possible that it has something to do with your antivirus or -spyware.

Are you SURE that you put in the correct username and password? It's case sensitive.

Have you tried to connect with Firefox at home?

I also use IE 7...I don't want to download Firefox as a new browser as this is my work computer. I haven't tried to sign into the BA on my home computer but I think I've done it on my husband's new computer...I can't remember. He has the old IE though I think. I wonder if it's something in IE 7.

^^ That shouldn't have anything to do with it.

I am really at a loss. I can't duplicate the error. Have you tried Firefox, Mlr? Or perhaps one of the other alternative browsers?

I am thinking that with your trouble and with Welsh's trouble, we might scrap that login box altogether and come up with another way to secure the site.

It's strange Doc. A month or so ago i could login without incident. I did renew my Spyware and Anti-virus protection this past week but login problem was before that..
