For you recruiting guys
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As per Franz on the BullGator Den Message Board and his “Thoughts For The Day”, I am going to try and do a bi-weekly or so ramblings segment and talk about recruiting and the little things I am hearing. Remember, they may not all be exactly what I believe, but there are a lot of nuggets I get that I can pass along and let you guys decide what to think. Here goes the first segment
Running back Darrel Scott has always been expected to visit the Gators. I know there were “people supposedly in the know” that suggested otherwise, but he honestly had legitimate reasons to miss previous scheduled visits, but had every intention of visiting. Of course the interesting thing now is that some are reporting that Colorado has been eliminated. I am not sure I necessarily believe that, but I have been getting a ton of good vibes involving Scott and the Gators lately and you have seen some of the things popping up on the boards.
I look for Jonathan Meyers to make an announcement for the good guys the week following his last game. The kid has his priorities straight and wants his team before me.
The wide receiver position is the craziest thing this year. I do expect Omarius Hines and Frankie Hammond to stick now. I also believe Travis Benjamin didn't get an offer last week to suddenly be slow played. I hear from some great sources that Benjamin wants to be a Gator in the absolute worst way and I think it happens very soon. That leaves one position left and I wrongly implied that Carl Moore was being slow played on his visit. That is not the case. The good thing about Moore is that he will decide by Dec. 15 as an early JuCo signee. By the way, I finally squeezed a visit date out of a source for Julio Jones. Look for Jones to visit the Gators January 12.
I also expect more news on receivers to heat up next week as Coach Billy Gonzales heads to the northeast (kind of) to visit Virginia receivers Marcus Davis and new name on the board. A.J. Price. He will also visit Kenny Tate from Maryland. Knock Deion Walker off the list, we aren't interested and I just think A.J. Jenkins will come to a realization of wanting to be a Gator when it is too late.
Along the offensive line, I still like Matt Patchan to show up in the orange and blue. Really, no news there though. I liked Ricky Barnum's newest list which did not include any Florida schools except UF. I think that bodes well. And let's throw a little coaching rumor into the offensive line recruiting here. The biggest thing I have heard with Les Miles impending departure from LSU is that Spurrier is absolutely ready to go, and I do not doubt it. But, I had a very good source tell me that Saban is almost likely to go to LSU in that scenario. If that happens, the Gators would pounce on Tyler Love in a heart beat.
The Gators have kept up their recruitment of all-star defensive lineman Chancey Aghayere and it looks like it will pay off in the end. Aghayere told our Cody Jones that he would be a Gator if Les Miles leaves LSU, and that is likely at this juncture. Also Aghayere gets good stuff from Brandon Antwine, who I have been told will get better, but has a long time in therapy ahead of him. I talked to a great source tonight that says look for William Green to be a Gator, I believe it.
Even with Marcus Robinson saying he will visit Florida officially, i don't think there will be room for him. Of course it would almost be an upset of Lerentee McCray wasn't a Gator at this point. I think the Gators are expecting Ramon Buchanan and with all the cards on the table, Arthur Brown is not as far fetched as I had once imagined.
Let's see...Will Hill and Dee Finley are the top two safeties in the country and heading to Florida. Janoris Jenkins is an ESPN All-American and Jeremy Brown is well thought of. Add the top corner in the country in Patrick Johnson and there absolutely couldn't be a better DB class around and not in recent memory. It could happen. And maybe the best thing is that all three of those corners are probable early enrollees.
Hopefully I will have more in a few days...See ya

I am here for you.....
Side Note. Our class is gonna be sick. If some of the things fall into place that they think may happen, we could have another number 1 class.

I haven't paid much attention to recruiting thus far, but will start paying attention now that the season is over. Appreciate the post, TTBHG!
How many are we going to be able to sign this year? I know the attrition stuff is a little up in the air, but we have such a small senior class leaving.
And that Miles-Satan-Spurs carousel talk has my head spinning.

originally the talk was 18...but we're going to have a lot of transfers:
already leaving:
Walker, Pupello, Fayson, Bo Williams, Bryan Waggener
Will leave from what I"m hearing:
Jamar Hornsby and Justin Williams.
There will probably be others, but that's what I'm hearing at this time.

feel bad for waggener.

Most thought the numbers would be around 17. With all of the transfers, it is probably gonna be around 23-24.
The alligator has an article that says Bo Williams is transfering and Brian Wags. is probably transfering. Couple that with Chevy, Fayson, Pupello etc. and we are going to be around that 23-24 number.

we need to reload athletes/wr's and not so much RBs imo.

With the two studs we have coming in at safety, losing Hornsby wouldn't be a huge deal.originally the talk was 18...but we're going to have a lot of transfers:

Justin Williams on the other hand is going to blow up next year. I really hope he stays. He will be a good one for the next couple years.

Wasn't Bo Williams just a frosh this year and out because of injury? That one surprises me. Waggener, I never thought was going to be a good fit. Not surprised there.
I saw the other day where Meyer said that Simon Codrington and Eddie Haupt may never play again because of their injuries. That sucks for them, if true. We better get some more bodies on the O line this year.

a1, you're thinking of Mon Williams who would've been a true soph this year, but obviously will redshirt. Bo Williams was currently redshirting through his frosh year.
For you recruiting guys
Bo Williams did reshirt this year and yes he was hurt. I believe he had a shoulder injury or maybe even shoulder surjery. I am almost positive he was injured though.

I thought Rainey had the shoulder thing. It could have been Bo as well, though.
I'll be honest. In a way I'm glad we are cleaning house slightly this off-season with the proposed attrition. This class should have the potential to fill the holes created by the losses, hopefully with guys that fit the team better.

I've never met a retarded person who wasn't smiling.

Thanks, TT, for the read.
