Kentucky! With ten minutes left in the second half, #22 UK is losing to Gardner-Webb by thirteen points.

This does suck but Im going to use an excuse Florida is going to use a lot this season " we have a young team" and a new coach to boot. At least we aren't Ohio State or Michigan State and lost to a D II school

Honestly its going to be a long year. Tubby didn't leave us with much. I guess his recruiting hurt UK then and its still hurting now. UK only has 2 seniors this year and they are average(Joe Crawford and Ramel Bradley). Billy G had some recruits but its going to take some time. Hell its kind of nice though to still have football to focus on and things still to do on the field and not the court yet

Descent? That's past tense. Somebody else has been winning all the SEC titles lately.

UK has taken solid hold of second place in SEC land. i look for UT to assume that role in short order. uk will be a middle of the pack team in both football and basketball before long.

What cracks me up is that before Tubby left Lexington UK's AD asked Tubby to change his staff and one of the moves Tubby wanted to make was bringing in his son Saul. Lexington would have been in riot mode. I appreciate what he did for UK and he is a great game coach but UK wasn't getting the players or wins it was accustomed to. We haven't been to a Final Four in 9 years. That is the longest drought the program has ever been through and it looks like its going to be a few more years at least

tubby put the team in place to win. he won. let's face it, tubby was and is a winner. uk fans in basketball are as out of touch with reality (on a whole) as the notre dame fans. and just like everyone was clamoring for ty willingham to be gone for the cheeseburger, all the uk faithful wanted one of the most winning coaches of the last decade to be gone.

and nothing to do with tubby, everying to do with the success of florida. he lost the SEC to the Gators a few years, but he was in the finals of the SEC tourney those years. if UT wins the SEC over uk this year, and they go ahead, then the cats fans are going to run billy g out of town too.

maybe alabma football is a better comparison for uk basketball. hmm

ok, sorry to be so hard on our kentucky bretheren here, but it's my opinion.

Urap I honestly think your into the mindset of someone that just watches UK when they are playing UF. Tubby was paid more than Urban Myer.( 2.5 million a year). He won his only championship 9 years ago mainly with players he didn't recruit. Uk had been bounced out of the tourney over the last couple of years by teams like UAB in the second round and when they did play a quality team like Kansas last year they were run out of the building. How would UF fans handle it if Urban or Billy would start losing enough games to consistently come in 2nd in the East and go to a mid level bowl like the Outback or what if the basketball team goes back to consistently being bounced out of the first round of the tourney like the days of Walsh and Roberson? Well we have seen how Uf handles football mediocrity (Zook lasted 3 years) and before the '04's Billy's coaching ability was being questioned. UK fan's while some are delusional( every school has that fan base) for the most part we just want the chance to be competitve. UK's basketball program( our pride and joy) had become mediocre while other historically great teams like UNC and UCLA just reloaded and Tubby sat idly by as recruits UK used to get started going to new upstart powerhouses in UF and Memphis for example. I expect UT to win the SEC this year and Billy G has a grace period because I realize its going to be a rebuilding job like when Pitino took over. Sorry to ramble but I really hate it when UK fans are lumped into this "crazed, out of touch" group of people the national media likes to portray us as.

UK won the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP 9 years ago. by saying that a coach has to win that to be successful is pure lunacy. the goal is to have a team in the position to compete for one on a regular basis. and correct me if i'm wrong, but UK won the SEC the majority of the time under tubby. UF won the tourney for the past few years, and that's all. UK has gotten to the final 4, elete 8 and sweet 16 consistently under tubby. that is success. anyway you cut it.

uf football has consistently played in second tier bowls. that's the norm. winning as much as we did in the mid 90's is the exception. to expect BCS every year is crazy person talk.

no offense, but you sound just like the delusional uk fans i'm speaking of. uk still is considered one of the best programs in the SEC year in and year out, and UK is the bar in which teams base success.
