The Hindi word "shart" translates approximately to "challenge" in English. However, the English slang word "shart" is generally interpreted as the occurrence of accidentally vacating one's bowels when trying to flatulate (a portmanteau of shit and fart).[1] A lot of people who originally heard about the title in the United States of America, particularly the teenagers and college-age demographic, were completely oblivious to the true nature of the movie and began speculating how a movie could center around a challenge to "shart."[2] Discussion boards on sites like ign.com and imdb.com[3] sprang up featuring "shart" stories from individuals, and the actual content of the movie began to take a back seat to its curious title.
