Instead of just going on a rant.

Well after last night i'm more convinced than ever we need a coaching change in Athens and we need a culture change. Took a career night from Murray to beat a 1-6 UK team by 5 points SMDH. The lack of displine and effort on part of some of the defense was unbelievable. Rambo tackling people 4 yards out of bounds and TJ Stripling getting a personal foul for getting into it with UK players! Freaking UK PLAYERS!. As UGA fans we've come to expect nights like last night which is the sad part. Love Coach Richt to death but the players don't respect him. In the current culture it is acceptable to scrap by the UK's and Vandy's of the world and be happy. UGA has a mediocre culture set in place right now. It is not accpetable to struggle against a 1-6 UK team that was down to a horribile Arkie team 42-0 at half last week. That horribile Arkie defense pitched a shutout agaisnt UK in a Half. The first 5 years were great but there has been a downward spiral the last 6 years. Stockpiled with talent these past 6 years but little results to show for it. What is it 0-9 against ranked opponents? Sure we won 10 last year but we lost to the 4 best teams we played. No offense to UK or Vandy but UGA should blow them out the water. 2 straight years we have struggled with UK and UK has beaten UGA twice in the past 6 years. Let alone we had a whole 2 weeks to get pissed off and play with fire after seeing Scar lose earlier. Right now Rambo's ass needs to be on the bench as far as i'm concerned. You would think with the prior events and UF beating Scar that our beloved Dawgs would play inspired emotional football realizing they were right in the mix for the East title again but no we see unispired, lethargic, and undiscplined football being played. I've been pretty optimistic but i can't find the faith to believe anymore.

I've been pretty optimistic but i can't find the faith to believe anymore.[/INDENT]Brother you have Every right to feel this way. At least you werent on here for the longest time (like me) defending this Crap !! I love CMR as a man. I have NO confidence in him as a HC at UGA any more. He'd probably be good if he down graded to another conference. But he aint cutting it as an elite team in the SEC. We are actually WORKING our way to BECOMING a KY, or Vandy, or Ole Miss etc.

In fairness to those schools At Least they excell in Basketball, and some have pretty good Baseball. UGA is SUPPOSED (we're not) to be a Football dominate school. If CMR does not lose his job at the end of this season BOBO NEEDS TO GO !!! Either fired or demoted to QB coach. And Grantham need's his butt chewed out, I mean SLAP OUT !! If he get's mad and stomps off, BYE dont let the door hit you in the rear on the way out. That's gonna call for Testicles on Mark's part.

He has GOT to man up and be a Boss. Not the coaches older brother. Their Boss. Not the player's older brother. When they dont deliver he need's to be On Their Backs wanting to know Specifics of Why and What are you doing to fix this. Same thing on Position coaches. People need to be held accountable.

I Know he's a Christian. That's ALL THE MORE reason he needs to do a even better job. The Bible does NOT relieve a Christian from doing their VERY BEST and it does not relieve them from RESPONSIBILITY. In fact he's called to do his Very best all the time. I get sick of seeing rival fans and some of our own use Mark Richt's Christian faith as a bashing tool. But I'm also sick of fans using it as an Excuse for poor performance and failure. As a fellow Christian I Expect better from CMR.

I gave my best on my job, I tried to go "above and beyond" what was normally called for from my position, and I tried to do that every day. And I was commendated several times as a result. But I was Also held responsible for mistakes & failures. Most I ever made was 34k a year, Mark make's 2.38 million per year !!!

Mark Richt has a personal responsibility to God, he has a professional responsibility to God and Dawg Nation to give his Very Best AND to be accountable AND to make tough decisions like firing Bobo or demoting him AND chewing Grantham Slap Out. Grantham wont get fired this quick, but he needs to know he's on the Hot Seat. And if he get's mad and show's out and cant handle the butt chewing THEN show him the door.

And one of the Asst. Coaches needs to be ACCOUNTABLE for ST's play. These things are the Only way CMR can hope to turn this team around. Accountability on EVERYBODY with the Dawgs football team, that's the Only way they will make it to the elite in the SEC. GOOD to vent we all need to and deserve to. Dawg Nation deserves a better showing than what we're seeing. The 6-1 record so what ?? Best team we've beat was TN and almost gave it to them. The rest of the teams we played shouldnt have scored more than 10 pts. per game. TRUTH.

Sounds like a mistake to me, but what do I know? Thought it would be much more.

For some reason Vegas thinks we'll hang around in this game or maybe this is just a sucker bet.

In any event, I didn't watch the Kentucky game. I actually thought we would lose that game and we almost did.

I'm not planning to watch the florida game either. I'm going to my grandson's 9 year old game.

I can't watch this once proud program flounder around any more.
I lived through Goff, but I can't fight it any more.
Never thought I would get to this point where something other than uga football would take priority on saturdays.

Maybe this is the game where CMR turns it around, but I have my doubts and they'll have to do it without me.
We haven't really beaten a good team in some time.

It would have to be a convincing, solid performance and win followed up by more in the upcoming weeks to get me to come back.

Sorry to say, I don't see it happening.

For those who didn't know... the Okefenokee Oar trophy is in display in the hall connecting Tate and Tate2. Go grab a picture before they move it to Gainesville next week.

The Gators are going to take that rather large paddle and spank our Bulldawg arses with it....

Thank God I am in Afghanistan and can't go this year. I don't even think being 9K miles away is going to be far enough to avoid the stench of Jax this year.

Also, they admit that the reason Charlie Strong would never be considered as a head coaching prospect is because he's a black man married to a white woman: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=135&f=2733&t=10012913

Let's use this thread to discuss Strong... Not other candidates - there's another thread for that.

I'll come out and say that I don't think Strong would ever be hired at UGA, and it's not for football reasons.

however, looking around the country, he is THE best option available.

if race seriously played a part in mcgarity's decision instead of hiring the best candidate available, he's in for a SHORT tenure

That just doesn't sit well with the old money at UGA, IMO. Or, frankly, with a big part of our fanbase. It's unfortunate, but it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I don't think McGarity would want to make decisions based on that... But if the boosters have as much power as we think they do, he might not have a choice.

That being said, what do you think of Strong as a coach?

And he has a white wife so he's got that going for him at some of the other SEC schools. Didn't matter at UF but he was never going to be the head coach at USC when we grabbed him to be our DC. Louisville was a good place for him to go IMO.

I'm watching the UGA/UK game on ESPN3 replay right now since I didn't get to see it this past weekend. UGA looks pretty pathetic against UK. I know they won but I don't see any way their offense can move the ball on our D. They won't get those deep throws against us.

Me too. Didn't know this was a trophy game though. The Okeefenokee Oar?

Was anyone else here in the Gators for Ray Goff fan club? I used to get e-mails from them back in the day.

And no way would they hire Strong for the above mentioned reason. Sad to say that this would be an issue in 2012.
If the devil had a name, it'd be Chuck Finley.

The pressure is getting to the players, too"

http://blogs.ajc.com/uga-sports-blog/20 ... s-playing/
ATHENS – You figured somebody would say something eventually. Monday night, Georgia strong safety Shawn Williams obliged.

The Bulldogs’ senior and de facto defensive captain ripped into his unit for what he called “soft play” all season. And Williams wasn’t above calling out a few teammates, identifying a couple of linebackers he didn’t think were playing up to snuff.

“We’re playing too soft as a defense,” said Williams, talking to reporters after Monday night’s practice. “That goes for the D-line, linebackers, corners, safeties, everybody. We’re just not playing with the same attitude we were last year. I don’t know what it is.”

Asked if he had communicated his frustration to his defensive mates, Williams said he did during the Kentucky game and he plans to again this week as the Bulldogs prepare for Saturday’s game against No. 2 Florida in Jacksonville.

“After the first series [against Kentucky], I told everybody we played too soft,” said Williams, Georgia’s leading tackler with 51 stops. “They got the ball at the 20 and went 80 yards right up the middle. I came to the sideline and said ‘y’all are playing soft.’ It gets frustrating because I’m sitting here and I’m giving all I got and I feel like I’ve got some guys that are not. I feel we’ve got some guys that are in a whole different place.”

Asked what he thought needed to be done, Williams said, “I don’t know. I’m trying to see if I have to take somebody’s helmet off and slap them and say, ‘what’s going on’? We’re not playing with any emotion right now. Period.”

Willliams then got into specifics.

“Personally, if I was the coaches, I can’t tell them what to do, but I’d have Amarlo Herrera in the game more,” Williams said of Georgia’s starting Mike linebacker. “I wouldn’t bring him out. . . . I want to see Amarlo (Herrera) and (Alec) Ogletree in the game at linebacker; I don’t want to see anybody else at linebacker. I feel like they’re two guys that are going to go out and give you all they got, no matter if they mess up or do right. I feel like they’re going to get to the ball and tackle. That’s what we need.”

As it stands, those two are playing the most at Georgia’s inside linebacker positions. Seniors Mike Gillard and Christian Robinson split time with Herrera at the Mike. But Herrera played less against Kentucky than he has in the previous six games. He came in averaging 7.8 tackles per game. Against the Wildcats he had three, tying his season low.

“I just feel like he’s better,” Williams said. “I don’t know what he’s doing that’s better than them, getting off blocks, getting around blocks. He just gets to the football, and that’s what we need, somebody who gets to the football and tackles.”

More than any specific individuals, Williams indicated it was attitude in general that has seen the Bulldogs plunge down the national defensive rankings. Heading into Saturday’s game against run-heavy Florida, Georgia is ranked 47th in total defense (367.43 yards per game), 72nd against the run (167.86) and 49th in scoring (24.14 ppg). They were top 23 in all those categories to end last season. Kentucky rushed for 206 of their 329 total yards in a 29-24 Georgia victory.

“Right now, Florida plays very physical and they’re going to come out and try to just manhandle you,” Williams said. “So I’m really looking forward to seeing what we do. Somebody’s gonna get punched in the mouth. It’s going to be us or them. Whoever gets punched in the mouth is going to have to decide, ‘what do we do now?’ You’re either going to give in or you’re going to fight back. Point blank that’s what we’ve got to do.”

Williams’ teammates – at least those available after Monday night’s late-finishing practice — concurred with his assessment.

“I understand where he’s coming from,” senior free safety Bacarri Rambo said. “He wants to win and he wants to be the best in whatever he does. I’m in the same boat with him. I see him as a leader and a captain of the defense. He just wants what’s best for the team and the defense. So if he feels like that I feel the same way. . . . That’s what we’re upset about, because we’re not playing the best we can play, not to the potential we have as a defense.”

Said Malcolm Mitchell, who played nearly half the season at cornerback before switching back to defense full time: “Yeah, we’ve got to amp it up. We’ve got to play harder.”

Williams was asked if he thought some players were worried too much about NFL and complacent because they’ve already proven themselves. Williams is among four Georgia starters that have been projected as first-round draft picks.

“I don’t know if it’s the NFL or worried about messing up or worried about a game down the road,” Williams said. “We’ve just got to do what we do and play physical football. And we’re not. That’s what you’ve got to do to win.”
