The third day of the 2012 Olympic Games has seen a virtual aquatic army of Gator swimmers take to the pool.

First, in the women's 100 backstroke preliminary, Gemma Spofforth (Great Britain) and Sinead Russel (Canada) qualified for the semi-finals, although based on their times, they're going to have to do much better to make it into the finals.

In the men's 200 freestyle, Ryan Lochte (USA), fresh off his win in the 400 IM, qualified for the semi-finals with the second-fastest time. Brett Fraser (Cayman Islands) also qualified for the semis, but he is not expected to make the finals. Brett's brother Shaune Fraser (Cayman Islands) swam in the prelims but didn't make the semis.

In the men's 100 backstroke, Bradley Ally (Barbados) and Omar Pinzon (Colombia) failed to qualify for the semi-finals.

In the women's 400 freestyle, Melani Costa-Schmid (Spain) just missed making the final, having the 9th-fastest time in the prelims.

Darian Townsend qualified as a member of South Africa's 4x100 free relay, which will be featured in prime time tonight on NBC.

Last but certainly not least, former Gator Dana Vollmer is the number one seed for tonight's 100 butterfly final.

As a reminder, the preliminaries have already happened, but NBC will be airing tonight's semi-finals and finals tape-delayed at 8:00 p.m. You can watch on the internet live, beginning at 2:22 p.m. Eastern Time.
