Coeds frolicking in fountain get fondled, clothing stolen

I have some questions:

1. Why is the University of Maryland's student paper called "The Diamondback"? Maryland's mascot is the Terrapin. A diamondback, in popular parlance, is a rattlesnake.

2. The thieves were all black - what color were the victims? This is important.

3. "Sex offense?" Really?

4. I am reminded of that scene in Planet of the Apes when the astronauts are swimming and the native humans steal all their clothes. Except with man-ass. Ok, so that's not really a question.

And Wikipedia is your friend: The Diamondback is the independent student newspaper of the University of Maryland, College Park. It was founded in 1910 as The Triangle and renamed in 1921 in honor of a local reptile, the Diamondback terrapin (the terrapin became the official school mascot in 1933).
