Orange and Blue Observations

Post by G8rMom7 »

So, as you may have seen I didn't really get to see too much of the game since I had four kids and it was HOT, so they didn't feel much like sitting still in that swealtering heat. Seriously, how did I do that for so many years...sit there in that kind of mid-day sun? Bill just said three words "you were drunk". Probably.

Anyway, I did get to see the game this morning on the Breakfast with the Gators show on Sun Sports.

Obviously the offense looked pitiful but according to all reports that was expected due to our injuries on the offensive line. I personally don't think Brantley looks any better at all...just mediocre (that's the bad news I guess). The good news is Driskel and Murphy both looked pretty good. I think Driskel is a beast and as opposed to Tebow at this point in his career, his thrown balls have a lot more zip and he seems to be able to get rid of the ball pretty quickly. And there were a few times that I'm sure he could have ran for 40 or more yards if it weren't a spring game.

The defense looked pretty good but again we had a tired offensive line.

I tell you, I know for sure Charlie is looking forward to sitting up in a nice cool air-conditioned booth when he calls plays. It was friggin' hot and as big as he is, it must have been VERY uncomfortable day for him.

Best play of the day was the overthrown ball by Brantley that bounced and was caught by Tebow in the end zone who threw it back in. I missed it live but heard a VERY loud cheer at that point...later to find out what happened from Bill. I remember thinking, "man, what kind of play in a spring game could cause that much noise?"...as my kids were all covering their ears at that point. Ha.

Include your much more thoughtful insights here...
Okay, let's try this!

The defense might be carrying us though most of the season. I'm skeptical that Brantley is the man.

It's not like we haven't recruited a few good offensive linemen in the last four years. WTF? Where's the beef?

Supposedly, with the exodus to the NFL and then a ton of injuries we didn't have a full load up front.

I read a write up of the game and I am not pleased to hear about Brantley's troubles. While I am loathe to criticize a fellow Gator, from a selfish POV, I can't go through another season like last one. I hope these troubles get fixed in a few months. I will give Charlie the benefit of the doubt now. And to be fair, last year our offensive line was offensive, which I think was part of the problem.

You really couldn't take too much away from the spring game. I think we will have a dominate defense as there are play makers all over the field on D. Injuries could create issues on the d-line.

Offense is a huge question. One healthy scholly RB and multiple injuries on the oline. I think one of the players (Clark?) said we saw about 30% of the offense on Saturday. One thing I do know, is Brantley won't be running the option and we won't have 1st and 10/2nd and 9 dive plays going for half a yard and for that I am thankful.

I am thankful for this as well.

We also don't have Steve Addazio any more too. That is a big plus.

Was Muschamp a maniac on thr sidelines? He was known for that here at UT.

Not during the spring game...he was pretty normal. His normal demeanor is more "excitable" than Urban was but he seemed to be just watching and taking notes all day from what I could see.
