Jeff Driskel's HS helmet

Post by G8rMom7 »

Is now in our possession. So if he becomes the next Joe Montana someday we can say we own his High School helmet. LOL If he ends up being nothing, we'll clean it up and sell it on eBay.
Okay, let's try this!

Nope. But that will be easy enough to get when he's at UF. We want to wait for him to prove himself first.

Cool. Let Nate wear it, maybe it will bring out the talent in him.

But if he signs it now and ends up being a dud, it will be harder to sell it as a usable helmet on eBay. It's a $300 helmet.

Wait, you mean they don't treat these like car seats? Where you're never supposed to buy one because it "may" have been in an accident. While this is going to definitely get hit and you "know" it has been in collisions before. :D

It's called "reconditioning". Each year the owner of the helmets should have it reconditioned, checking for cracks, replacing pads and other parts etc. That is the primary focus of our business. Many schools choose to do it every other year which is okay, but you wouldn't want to wait longer than that as the safety checks they do on them after reconditioning only cover the helmet for one year of use.

Well, this one is...it's Schutt's top of the line Ion helmet. But even their basic helmet is around $150. They ain't cheap. Which is why they get them reconditioned rather than buying new each year.
