Anyone else see the rumor about Cheeseburger Charlie as OC? Anyone know details? I am sure its just a rumor, but if anyone has info, please post.

OK, my brother in law just texted me about this - WTF is going on? For the humor content of saying Cheeseburger Charlie alone this cannot be true......

I just came on to see what anyone has heard...Bill just told me that it looks like he's our OC...I'm sure he's getting it from Fightin' Gators (Scout). I'd be surprised being that he has a job in the NFL...and he's done a fairly good job being that he's with the KC Chiefs who have turned around quite a bit this year. Bill just saw it scroll across that Weiss will stay with KC for the playoffs...but it didn't say anything about him going to UF. ??? I dunno.

By the way, in the pregame show on ESPN at 7, they talked about this situation and they said it's being reported, but there is no confirmation. Of course, no one could understand why he would leave a position in the NFL where he has turned around a program, to go to a college program where he'll have to really work (recruiting, dealing with kids and their parents, etc.).

I find it hard to believe myself actually...and I usually don't agree with Mark May...ever.

Well, I like what AA says and I hope he's right. But I'll say this: I like me some pro-style offense. If not for Mr. Harvin, these last five or six years of offense would have driven me to the graveyard. I want to see a big-ass ugly motherfucker gain 1100 yards a season, not this Robert Gillespie shit.

What do you mean? With the exception of this season we did pretty well

However, I want to see more of an aerial attack with the long pass

They've talked about it on ESPN all day today as well. I'm still in disbelief, but according to some folks on Scout, there's speculation that he has ties to Muschamp via his son who was looking to get into coaching and Muschamp was helping him along (or something like that)...and then Weis has a daughter with special needs and maybe being in G'ville would be a good thing for their family?

All of this is speculation...all I know is I hope he boots Brantley...he is not pro-style...he just sucks.

I'm willing to watch Brantley get his chance in 2011. Everything I've read suggests that he's a talented kid whose head has been tied in a knot -- and whose receivers don't run the routes. In other words, the coaches have fucked him.

"Get his chance" means that he'll have the same chance as everyone else to learn the offense and to run it. I hope we have three passing QBs on the roster at a minimum. Three capable ones. Get us JC transfers, freshmen, whatever. Because this business where only Brantley can pass the ball -- that's for the birds.

Well, I hope we don't have to "give him chance" after 5 games into the season and he still doesn't "get it". Hopefully, IF he's going to become a leader (and quite frankly, THAT is what I think his problem is...he just doesn't seem to have that win at all costs quality that we need our leaders to have in the huddle), that he becomes one in the Spring and is ready for the first snap of the first game next year.

Jeff Driskel is pretty good and I can totally see Brantley looking a lot like Ingle Martin did in Chris Leak's first season.

Well, I'm not so worried that Muschamp and Weis are gonna feel obligated to the Brantley family the way Meyer has seemed to. They're gonna come in and figure out what will allow them to win more than eight ballgames. As they should.

And if I were a QB, I'd sure be intrigued about being coached by the guy who coached up Tom Brady. Tom Brady wasn't an MVP at Michigan, I can tell you that.

A couple of comments:

Toothy is right - I don't remember Tom Brady being all that at Michigan as well.

With respect to Brantley, I put a lot of his problems on the fact that the O Line wasn't as good as in past years. I don't want to speak ill of a fellow Gator. But let's look at the two guys who had to replace QB legends - Doug Johnson and Brantley. From what I remember and read, Johnson was a bit of a jerk who didn't do what SOS asked him to. I am kind of surprised that he didn't get demoted, but SOS must have seen something he liked. From what I have read about Brantley, he is a good kid who does have some talent, and has done what the coaches have told him to do. My brother in law said that he was very good in last years Spring Game. That being said, I don't think he gains anything by leaving as I can't see many coaches being excited about him. He couldn't do what Tebow did, and that is not his fault. That's why I didn't crack on him too hard during the season. IF, he can learn a new system, then I am willing to give him a shot. Weis (I can't call him Cheesburger Charlie anymore if he is a Gator) may be able to make him good.

I agree with Toothy as well that we need more than 1 throwing QB. We also need a better line as well.

And in all fairness to Addazio, a friend of mine who still lives in Gainesville and who has many ties to UF said that SA did alot behind the scenes to keep the team together during UM's leave of absence. So he does deserve credit for that. However, he is not good as an OC. I will wish him luck at Temple.

Looks like a done deal. What are your thoughts on the other coaches?

Still don't quite understand the move back to college. But if he can get us some championships, I say, Welcome Charlie!

Love that Aubrey Hill is coming back to UF to coach the WR's.

I think Weis should be good.
“The Knave abideth.” I dare speak not for thee, but this maketh me to be of good comfort; I deem it well that he be out there, the Knave, being of good ease for we sinners.

I understand that Charlie Weis is a real prick, and I wonder how that's gonna play in Gainestopia.

hiring hill is a good 'check' i guess if you wanna call it that against any of our guys jumping ship to the "U"

i'm just reluctantly exuberant in that all-star coaching staffs don't necessarily spell success....but i'm stoked.

Well its official now. I gotta tell you, as much as I disliked him at ND, it will take a bit to stop calling him CC. But, as I said before, if he can do here what he did for the Patriots, I look forward to the next few years.

I wonder what they are saying at Whorechump. Can anyone get in there?
