“One of the countless drawbacks of being in Congress is that I am compelled to receive impertinent letters from a jackass like you in which you say I promised to have the Sierra Madre mountains reforested and I have been in Congress two months and haven’t done it. Will you please take two running jumps and go to hell.”
Congressman John McGroarty, engaged in constituent service (1934).
They don't make 'em like they used to
They don't make 'em like they used to
They sure need to make more of em like they used to.
Can I borrow your towel? My car just hit a water buffalo.

Good God. Could you imagine the horrific press a politician would get these days for saying something like that?
I applaud Congressman McGroarty for having a backbone and wish more of them did. Even if I don't agree with a politician, if they have a backbone on an issue (and they're not doing it for purely evil reasons), I can at least respect it...even if I don't like it.
